We stayed for a long weekend and found this hotel was a great base. It was clean and close to lots of attractions. It was also close to the metro, which makes it easy to get around. We chose to have the breakfast there one morning it was ok but nothing special - I'd suggest going to the mall at the metro station as there are lots of nice bakeries!

We stayed here only one night on our way to Bangkok, but the service in the hotel was excellent. Most staff spoke good English and were welcoming from our long day of traveling. Also the hotel is itself is beautiful with lots of lights and decorations outside.

Our room was a little small but very clean. They have lots of English channels including HBO.

It's a 5 minute walk to the subway station and very close to the Forbidden City. We didn't visit it but there is a restaurant in the hotel, but there's also a few convenience stores across the street.

Overall, if you plan on visiting Forbidden City or the Palace Museum I would recommend staying here.

The Tianan Rega has a wonderful location: a block from the Imperial Palace near the southeast corner and a couple blocks from the Wangfujing shopping area. Its off the main street, quiet and convenient to two metro stations.
Rooms are large with good beds, strong showers and nice fittings. The hallway carpets are a bit worn, though. Avoid the lowest price rooms which have no window, and you will be pleased.
As others have noted, the staff have little English, although they are happy to help with a map or a taxi. Breakfast is varied and quite good, but we saved 70 RMB per morning per person by walking around the corner to a local noodle shop for breakfast.
I would certainly stay here again.

Room Tip: Avoid the low price "Superior" rooms which have no window. $10 per night more gives you a nice view of Beijing smog.

We stayed for 6 nights.

The room was very clean and fairly large. It also came with quite a selection cable channels although most of the channels were in Mandarin. They also provided bathrooms, bedroom slipppers and toiletries. Internet connection was strong altough limited to just one account per room. The bathroom was also very clean.

The location was good. It is just beside Forbidden City and a 5 minutes walk to Wangfujing and 3 mins walk to the nearest subway. It can however can a little quiet in the nightas it's not by the main road.

The walls were a little thin and we could hear when the people next door were showering. Other than that, it was fine.

The service staff were good and were prompt when we requested for items. The people at the reception weren't the most friendly but they will answer you when asked any question. We spoke Mandarin so language wasn't a problem for us.

We didn't eat the breakfast as there were lots of food choices just across the road and at Wangfujing so I can't comment on that.

Would definitely stay here should I visit Beijing again.

This was our first ever experience of a hotel in china and we were pleasantly surprised, we stayed for three nights and enjoyed our stay.
We were greeted very nicely at the reception and although the staffs English was limited (our Chinese was a total of five words!) their enthusiasm to speak to us was admirable.
Although the hotel is a little tired it was pleasant, our room was nice and spacious with a very clean comfy bed. The room was quite dark as we had only a diddly little window and had to use the lights when ever in the room, not the end of the world though!.
The shower was great, hot and powerful with nice fresh bath towels daily.
We never ate at the hotel as we ate out at the local restaurants which are plentiful and good value, with the exception of a place called the duck duck, it was terrible, expensive and poor service.
The hotel is in an ideal location for the attractions all within a short walk and is very close to the underground, which we used to get to the Great Wall, 2 yuen to Beijing train station and 6 yuen on the train one way, time it right and you can do the journey in around 2 hours each way! This was a lot cheaper than the £35 each that the tour operators were asking, and a lot more fun!
We would recommend a stay at this hotel, we would have stayed longer as there is so much to do and see in Beijing but we had already booked our return train ticket to shanghai.
To any one visiting Beijing we would recommend at least five nights as we realised there was so much that we had not seen.
