A business hotel is one which you can actually get business done - in this modern world, you need to be able to feel relaxed, refreshed, fed and in touch. This hotel has many short comings however, I am told it is a brand new Hotel and to expect teething problems.

The staff at front desk are overly helpful and the bell boy team excellent - if only the hotel continued high standard through the rest of the property.

I applaud the Marriott Beijing Northeast for inventing the "Kung Fu Shower" - the hot and cold water during the shower means you have to perform some pretty swift Kung Fu moves to avoid burns or frozen skin - apparently this is something the hotel cannot fix yet (given it is -4 deg C, I at least expect a good start to the day with a warm shower!).

The Hotel decor is great - pity you can't use all of the facilities (which they apologise about) - the pool is not functional, the business centre is closed and if you want to use a meeting room, its free for the first 2 hours then 300 RMB per hour thereafter - as a business person, this is a disgrace - I'm happy to pay 100 RMB at most if anything!

The breakfast is very short of variety. Make sure you ask clearly for your morning coffee fix (espresso in my case) or your body will be polluted with the acidic conference coffee. Again, the decor is great but the service average. Eastern selections are few the dim sum had 3 poor choices) and the western cooked section had 4 basics. at 188 RMB plus taxes, you expect better than basic.

The room was well appointed but the Internet is a joke - nice and fast but I run a laptop and an iPhone - I want to be able to meet people and access the net in the lobby with my phone and go and do work on my laptop wirelessly as well - you can't do that due to the insane policies put in place by Inter-Touch that allow 1 device / 1 login. The pricing expensive.

Being a new hotel, expect the unexpected, unexplained, unexplainable, under-constructed and the incomplete (check out my photo).

Although the location is great, this Hotel gets a big thumbs down in my book. I'm not coming back and I now put this Hotel in the same category as The Hyatt in India (read earlier reviews of mine).

Enjoy your stay if you'd like to check out the Kung Fu Shower!
