“Disappointing first impression but impressive value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

The hotel is tucked in a hard-to-find naw narrow street. The entrance and lobby are tight and very unimpressive. But the hotel is actually located only five minutes walking time away from Yashow shopping market and less from Sanlitun bar street. Surprisingly front desk staff speak better English than staff at more renowned and expensive hotels. While the room is not too large, it isn't too small either. Rooms are well equipped and have all toiletries, kettle and a TV. Breakfast did not include too great a variety of menu but there wa se ought diversity to feed both Chinese and Western guests. Overall, excellent value for money.

Having stayed at several Beijing establishments and having seen my own Beijing family actually run a chain of hotels in this city, I can honestly say the YoYo is excellent value for money for the facilities it provides. Rooms are well cleaned and stocked (like most hotels I have stayed in though they are spartan on the loo paper, buy your own).

I have personally observed front desk staff during the day being super friendly and helpful to guests and giving them service with a smile. However the one thing that detracts from my experience is that I arrived at 5:45am at the hotel from a red eye flight and unfortunately the night desk duty staff seem to enjoy unbroken nap time and are extremely resentful of you arriving and waking them up from their sleep, despite the establishment advertising a 24hr front desk. I was born in China but grew up in Australia and so understand this is typical Chinese grumpiness of the type you encounter with taxi drivers and people in the service industry. However guests not acquainted with the Chinese culture would find such a 'welcome' extremely rude, especially as they merely had their nap interrupted but the guest has had to struggle all the way off a plane from the airport.

Location is excellent and only a stone's throw from Yashow Market and SanLiTun bar district, and there's a fruit market adjacent. Earplugs might be handy as the adjacent primary school has a loud microphone boosted flag raising ceremony around 7:30am Monday mornings and most likely other amplified activities that might wake you.

I've stayed at yoyo several times -- good value for money, great location in the heart of Sanlitun, metro, etc.
The rooms are clean, spartan, beds a tad hard, but overall if you're not too fussy, it's a good choice.
My only complaint is the staff calls incessantly to remind you about the check-out time. For me, starting from 8am to noon. Request rooms away from the elevator - gets noisy on the weekends and it's close to noisy machinery.

The hotel was nice. Small but clean rooms and excellent location for good price. A 3minutes walk from the sanlitun bar area. Also the airport is 30mins by taxi. I heard the Yunnan restaurant provides good food opposite of the hotel.

Only two small improvements and this little hotel beats them all: they need wifi in the rooms (currently only in lobby) and a slightly better breakfast (currently on the extremely cheap side).
But even like this, they are in an unbeatable location in sanlitun yet quiet at night, rooms (i was on 6 floor) are new, clean and neatly planned to save space, warm in winter, no smells, and the price is at youth hostel level. Unless you are looking for frills and luxury and you are willing to pay quite a bit of money in international hotel chains, this is the place to go in beijing

I stayed here for one night in September 2013. Room is small, but clean and has everything you need. For the hotel itself I would rate 3, but the attached restaurand (Middle-8th-restaurant) is superb and a a hotel guest you get 15% discount (or even 20%, I can't remember for sure). It is not far away from the Metro and I would stay here again.

First the good: Yoyo is a great value for its location. Heart of Sanlitun, relatively easy access to taxis and subway. The staff is friendly, the hotel is clean, and there are plenty of amenities - restaurants, etc - within walking distance.

The bad: I stayed here in late October, and the heat in my room wasn't working. That was cold. Second, I received a smoking room, and by the end of my two nights ... my clothes and luggage smelled like I'd taken up smoking.

Still, if you're looking for an inexpensive, mostly clean option in this area, you could do much worse than Yoyo. A very good budget choice - if you can spend more, look elsewhere.
