Location is very good. Near subway Dongsi Station, and also walking distance (for me) to Jingshan Park. I just take a leisure walk, and it's just 15 minutes to Jingshan Park. From Jingshan Park to Beihai Park is only 10 minutes. First I came to Forbidden City in 2006, we can enter through north Entrance in front of Jingshan Park, but now we must enter from south in Tiananmen. And beware for the "trickshaw scam", as they ask for only 3 yuan to take us to south entrance Forbidden City, but then they will take you to small alley in Hutong area, and when nobody around, they will stop the rickshaw and ask for 300 yuan!

Entrance to this hotel is also a little bit dark at night, but still safe neighborhood I think. Hotel room is clean, friendly English speaking staff, and we took hostel tour to Great Wall Mutianyu. Very nice tour indeed! For 280 RMB, we get American breakfast, free time 3,5 hours in Mutianyu, great Chinese lunch, and most important no shopping!

Very recommended hostel! With just a little concern for the safe neighborhood..

I stayed with my girlfriend for 3 nights and we really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were super friendly. The building was old and cosy and the bar area was great to sit in. Beer prices were a little expensive but still cheap enough. We asked to extend our stay by a day and they arranged it with no problems. The wifi worked well in our room, good enough for Skype and FaceTime. The only bad thing I would say is our room was next door to the bar, the music got turned off at 11:30 but it was still very loud till 1-2am. We didn't really mind but you might if you want an early night. 2 minutes walk to a good subway station, you can get to most places really quickly.

Room Tip: The room right next to the bar can get really noisy.

Our twin room was tiny but it's about right for the price. The location is 5 min from Dongsi metro station- perfect! The only thing is that the exact location of the hostel is smack in the middle of a back alley surrounded by the market and could be hard for the taxi to find. So print out the location map from their website and show it to the driver.
Best thing about the hostel is that they offer cool tours. We went for the Mutianyu great wall tour for RMB 280. Really nice trip. My advice: take the cable car and toboggan ride so that you can walk more on the wall. Will hv to pay extra though.
We also went to see the kungfu show. RMB160 for one-way transport and ticket. I was at first sceptical but was blown away by the spectacular performances.

The place is great, good location, bar and food.
However during our leve the staff would not give us our key deposit back unless we had a little receipt we were given at the very start.
I mean what "proof" do they need that we had stayed there. Beijing was full of scammers and overall rude people (with exceptions of course).

We stayed there by Mac 2013.The room rate is cheap so you can't expect more. The basin is terrible as the water flowing out is hot water,so you will easily get hurt if you turning on without tasting it first. Also the toilet bowl was blocked when we just stayed one day,the staff said it was already like that before we came. They are very efficient to fix it well quickly.

We were really surprised by the value you get for the money. Hostel is at a great location with a lot of good restaurants and near the central shopping district. Rooms are good as well, nothing special. Special thanks to the girl behind the reception who did an amazing job with helping me try to get my jacket back which i lost going out at club Vic's (really good by the way). So if you read this, you are awesome!!!

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

The layout of the hostel is great with a good communal area right in the centre and the rooms are really good too

One downer though was that as I was checking out, I felt a little scammed as the lady wanted to see my payment receipt toget my my room key deposit back (£10).
Giving the key back was not enough!! I'm sure the hostel make a lot of extra money from this so make sure you keep your payment receipt.
