he hotel recommended the Great Wall hike at Jiankou and booked a driver for us.
It takes about 40 minutes to climb to the top of the stairs. Then we started to walk on the old non-renovated part of the Great Wall. This section was much wider, more beautiful than we expected . As it was not a tourism place, there’re few tourists, we only saw 2 couples during our 4hours hike, it was a really nice hike away from most of the crowd. It was like that the whole wall was yours.
Take enough food and water, there’s no shops on the wall(only 1 old lady selling drinks at the start of the hike);
It’s better to go with a guide( they knows the best way to avoid the difficult parts).
