An outstanding place for lunch, excellent food, and great ambiance. Watch out, the menu is only in chinese so go along with a local. The beer is great, they serve draft. The place is full of chinese so you can imagine the food is excellent. The prices are very reasonable.

We visited this restaurant following Lonely Planet recommendation. What a disappointment! The food was overpriced, the dumplings were average and dry and the service was so so. We paid more for this average meal, which was only a lunch, than at some restaurants where we ate peking duck fro dinner. Give it a miss!

it's said there's a famous story about its history - long time ago there's an empire of China returned to the capital from a long & tiring journey, and ate there before arriving the Forbidden City, and was impressed very much... good story, but I care about the food more...:P

They serves all kinds of Beijing dumplings, but most famous for their varieties of steamed dumplings. We tried 4 kinds, veggie, pork, Three kind of Freshness, (veggie mixed with seafood), and something others. The dumplings were severed with lovely appearances, and tastes very nice too. But the most impressive part are the cold dishes! Too many dishes I want to try but didn't get space to try many.... The veggie salad, chicken & rice noodle, and some other one are recommended.

This restaurant was recommended in the Lonely planet Beijing guide and was really a great finding. Food was great, we had dumpling including the specialty of hair crab (very good).
It's a great option if you are doing Tienanmen square, es very close. I was about $10/person but it could be cheaper if you don't go for the crab dumplings.
