We took a group of 13 Grade12 Art students to explore 798 - perfect location. A short 5 minute walk gets you right into the centre of things, with no taxi or metro hassles. Clean rooms, but more local than Western style breakfast. They also have a mini-bus available for hire at reasonable rates. We'll definitely be back for the same trip next year and I would also use this with my family for a 798 visit.

This hotel is very nice. My room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is a buffet with a lot of Chinese food and some "western" choices such as viennoiseries, bread and jam. I'll go back for sure if I need to stay in 798 area. Wifi was ok in the room. Employees are helpful. Some can speak English, but still easier if you know some Chinese.

The room was mostly clean and comfortable. Breakfast is good in a Chinese manner, meaning no dairy products, rice, noodles, bread, eggs, vegetables and some unrecognized dishes. We recommend to bring your own yogurt and cheese and use their bread and croissants.
The hotel is far from the metro station, although it's near the nice 798 art area. If you wish to go to the center by the metro, take buss no. 629 or 851 right in front of the hotel heading to Oungjing metro station. The rout to Tianenmen will take you approximately an hour and costs 4 RMB per person (2 for bus and 2 for metro). You can also take a taxi that may take the same time because of the crazy traffic and will cost about 40-60 RMB.
Although we're generally satisfied with the hotel, I don't believe we'll be staying there again because of the distance to the center.
One more thing, the smoking is allowed everywhere, and every evening we felt the smoke from the neighbors. This was really inconvenient, but I understood that this is the situation in all Chinese hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a non-smoking neighbors.

The Yitel is a good value hotel that gets the important things right. The reviews here are accurate based on my experiences.

Clean, modern rooms with comfortable beds, great bathrooms and decent storage. It's a short walk to the 798 Factory Area. Unusually they didn't provide any shower gel or shampoo so come prepared. I found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.

I managed to get a patchy connection to slow (but free) wifi in my 12th floor room.

The smell of smoke does permeate the hotel and can seep under the doors of the rooms depending on who you have as a neighbor. English is not spoken widely by the staff but there are a few exceptions.

The breakfast was mostly not to my (English) tastes; anyone for stir fried broccoli or chicken in a black bean sauce? The dining room felt like it was a set from a 1970s soap opera. Although there were a few western options at the Yitel I'd recommend taking a short walk to the excellent Flatwhite cafe in the 798 Factory Area for breakfast.

Nightly call-girl cards are still being pushed under the doors which I find a bit crass.

I would happily stay here again.

Having spent a week in this hotel for a small conference, I agree with the other reviewers that it's more of a local business hotel rather than an international business hotel. That being said it was clean and inexpensive.

The pros:
The hotel is clean and new, having been built less than 2 years ago
The neighbourhood is interesting- across the street is the 798 art district filled with funky warehouse studios, shops and coffee houses.
The meeting rooms were clean and well equipped
The staff were friendly even if they did not speak much English
It's closer to the airport than other hotels in central Beijing - about 30 minutes by taxi

The cons
It's not in central Beijing. There is not a metro stop nearby
The staff speak little English so if there's a problem it can be awkward to fix
The lunch buffet provided to our meeting was very Chinese (they served chicken feet for example) and laden with MSG. We ended up cancelling lunches halfway through the meeting as some of our staff had a bad reaction to the MSG and some people at nothing but rice.
Breakfast was quite Chinese as well. There was a guy who cooked eggs if you could find him, but he was elusive. Most of the food was noodles, rice, chicken, celery, etc with only toast, fruit and a hard boiled egg for westerners (if you could not find the egg-guy)
Smoking is allowed inside the building in the meeting room area. We did not smoke in our meeting room but the conference using the other rooms did so we had to run through a smoke gauntlet to get to the loos. The smoke permeated our room from the outside.
We had to track down the elusive IT guy every morning to turn on the LCD projector which required a remote. If we booked a meeting with the LCD they should have predicted our need rather than being surprised each morning.
We ordered coffee/tea breaks for our meeting which ended up being a pot of tea and an over cooked pot of coffee with no biscuits or food. Make sure you order coffee/tea AND biscuits.
Each night we had little business cards slipped under our door for 'special massage' services (if you know what I mean). It gave the otherwise professional hotel a taint.

All in all it was a positive experience with some slight issues as above. If you do book a meeting here make sure you are specific about what you want and don't want.

Finally, we used Janet at Sinohotel to book the conference and she was fantastic. She went over and above, responding quickly to emails beforehand, visiting the various venues ahead of time, taking photos and even travelled on our excursions with us to make sure we did not get lost. When we had any problems/changes she was a phone call away and as a bilingual English/Chinese speaker, her skills were invaluable.

I've never had such great service from a hotel /event booking service and at no/very little cost to us. If you do book the Yitel, or anywhere else in China, I can recommend Sinohotel highly.

Room Tip: Nobody had a bad room in our group.

They highlighted it is a business hotel, but I feel it is only mean for local, not an international business hotel yet;
Wifi is only available on ground floor and penthouse, with password;
So called business hotel, while only one English channel (news channel) among 48’s tv channels can watch in the room.
Each room only provide one card, even though we had requested from front office, and they refuse to provide one more, such an inconvenience and stingy;
Is limited fork and spoon, tea spoon, coffee cup … provided in the restaurant, and respond slow during peak for breakfast;
The staff is not friendly including F&B, front office can communicate in English, but their face are always dark;
The location is far from subway station, although is near to 1 or 2 tourist attraction;
It is no shopping area around the hotel, one shop lot opposite where you can buy simple grocery and have supper, the restaurant is open till 2am opposite;
Beijing’s traffic is well-known in the world, and the hotel is far from city center while near to airport, everyday we spend minimum 2 hours on the road go and return from the city center;
Travel agent will say is worth to upgrade to 5star while pay some money, but is NOT worth and it is NOT a 5star hotel…yet;
This hotel is no swimming pool and spa, only 2 fitness equipments in the fitness center which you can see from the photo provided.
Only praise – housekeeping, they make the room so comfortable, I had a nice sleep everyday.
