I spend a lot of time in Beijing. Everything from hotels for locals only, to four star hotels. This was a good compromise. English television stations, English speaking staff, Japanese levels of service, for the right price. I paid just under $100US per night.

The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable. My room faced the main road, but the room was quiet. The window blinds were effective.

Finding a taxi was no issue - the hotel now allows taxis to line up just off site. My room overlooked the taxi line, and there were often taxis available.

The subway is very close, and it was quite convenient. The fare never exceed 2 RMB - something to consider over a taxi when going to Tienanmen Square or Wangfujing - both are very accessible by subway.

The restuarants within the hotel were pricy. We went to the seafood buffet, and it was fine. I could not justify $25US for breakfast, and found local street vendors selling breakfast for under $1US. No illness, no issue, just good street food. There are quite a few restuarants off site that are reasonable and decent.

Taxis from the airport - the airport taxi initially refused to drive me, saying that they didn't know the location. I was shuttled to a gypsy cab, where the driver demanded 650RMB for a 100RMB fare. Use your head - have the hotel telephone number handy, and ask the taxi driver to call the hotel. Pantomine if needed. Feign misunderstanding, since the taxi driver is doing the same to you. I assure you - all taxi drivers have a cell phone. Make the driver call and get directions from the hotel front desk if needed. Don't fall for the gypsy cab routine.

A nice 5 star hotel with good location and near the metro station. It is good for holiday as well as for business travellers. The variety of food available for breakfast is good. There is also a nice Chinese restaurant located in the hotel, and have nice and tasty food.

I've booked 2 rooms for a family trip to Beijing. This hotel has modern amenities. Ask for adjoining room is you have children with you. The room is also equip with big Led screen for you to search anything online. It is very convenient for all sort of transportation.
This hotel is situated at Line 1, at Jianguomen Subway, that connects to all kind of attractions. This hotel is only 1 stop away from Silk Market which is also within 10 minutes walking distance. Another near by shopping place is Pearl Market which have good bargains. Next to the hotel, across the road you can find Mc Donalds that is open 24 hrs.

Room Tip: Request for adjoining room is you travel with families.

This is a very nice, reasonably priced hotel in a fairly quiet area of Beijing. Our family has stayed at several different hotels in Beijing, and we definitely would recommend this one above the others.

LOCATION: since the subway is within walking distance, it is very convenient for moving about the city. The Forbidden City is 3 stops away and the Silk Market is 1 stop away from the hotel. It's also close to the embassy neighborhood which is absolutely lovely. If you have young kids that are hesitant to eat the local cuisine, there is a McDonald's nearby! ;)

AMENITIES: we really enjoyed the morning buffet breakfast - one tip, the food is freshest during the "prime" eating hours, around 8 - 9 AM. If you come when it first opens, there are fewer options available.

STAFF: checking in was a seamless process, even though we had booked through ctrip, and not through the hotel directly. Our room was always cleaned properly, and the dining room staff was friendly and attentive.

ROOM: we had a room with 2 beds; however, their beds are sized differently than in the US. The double beds are somewhere between a twin size and a full size in the US. If you are planning to have 2 people per bed, it may be a tight squeeze (unless they are children).

I booked this hotel online and when I arrived the front desk could find no record of my reservation. Despite presenting the front desk with an email and website receipt for my reservation showing I had paid in full, the hotel refused to give me the benefit of the doubt or do anything to resolve the issue. I was invited to wait in the lobby until my reservation could be verified (turns out that would have only been four hours), and then was told I could check in if I put the full rate of the room on my credit card. That is so generous. Thanks. The whole check-in fiasco took over an hour, a time during which I observed many other guests spending an inordinate amount of time checking in. Note: I was accompanied by my Chinese girlfriend to translate so there was no misunderstanding, just poor service. If you don't speak Mandarin, try checking in here at your own peril.

So, I pay for the room twice, and then the front desk calls me every hour for four hours to tell me they haven't found my reservation! Thanks for waking me up with those updates. Then, the front desk suddenly 'found' my reservation and they're willing to refund the extra $200 they charged to my credit card only when I check out.

Try obtaining a taxi at this hotel from the bellman. There are often not many taxis available (in the heart of downtown) and though the hotel permits the drivers to loiter around and smoke, if the driver doesn't like the length of the fare, they basically tell you to piss off (remember, I have a translator) and the bellman could care less. It is easier to obtain a taxi by walking to the street.

The rooms are nothing special, you can obtain the same room for less at many other hotels in Beijing. Cramped but nice enough. The room smells like soy sauce for some reason--like there was a sushi feast in here just prior to arrival. Try the Crowne Pointe Wangfujing -- excellent rooms (twice the space), great location and they tried hard to provide great service. And I paid half what I'm paying here, next to the freeway and not much else. The bathroom sink and vanity are split and located across the entryway, right next to the door--very convenient if there is a fire while you're shaving.

I've only been here a few hours and I can't wait to check out. This is, at best, a 3 star hotel (with terrible service) rather than the 4 1/2 stars I saw.

Room Tip: They're putting up a high rise behind the hotel, next to the Japanese gardens. Why a Japanese th...

This is a large hotels which looks a bit worn from the outside. The proximity to the big traffic machine may also give some negative thinking. While first inside everything change. The reception is classy and service i brilliant.
Rooms have a good size and all you will need. The gym is also a plus.

For the price you pay here you get much for the money - and you will need to double the price to something much better. Highly recommened as a central hotel.

Room Tip: Room facing the street to North og west.

We visited during the May Day holiday, perhaps that is why it was so quiet. But we enjoyed ourselves and appreciated the peace which the hotel offered - especially at the end of a hectic day. The highlights:
- a Chinese orchestra playing in the lobby
- the Chinese restaurant was exquisite (dinner)
- the pool had just been refilled so the water was cool and fresh.
Service was generally satisfactory with the exception of the breakfast cafe staff who were unfriendly - we did not get a welcoming feeling, not once but all four mornings we were there. At least the cafe opened early but the staff attitude colored my overall impression of the hotel. Too bad as a smile would have gone a long way.
