Dont know if its well located or not as the city is enormous and without a clear downtown. Need a taxi or subway to go anywhere. Breakfast is okay, as well air conditioned, rooms are very nice well decorated and new but without wifi even paying. Staff don't speak a single word in english and concierge don't know the city which is unacceptable. There are not restaurants nearby (only one Corean) The lobby offer a show at night with singers which make it vey noisy from 8 to 10 pm so if you need to use the complimentary wifi at the lobby is very uncomfortable. Quality of sleep is very good ( fantastic bed with silk quilt covers) Swimming pool in the middle of summer was closed.

Room Tip: far from lobby

I stayed at the Sheraton Great Wall in Beijing for one week on a business trip. Compared to the other Sheraton in town, the public areas of the hotel are old, and bring you back to a 1980s feel (when the hotel was most probably built). Amenities are also on the older side and need refurbishing.
The room I stayed in was however comfy. The bed was great and the bathroom was modern and had all needed amenities. The view of Beijing was also nice.
The service was average, as most staff didn't really smile or greet guests nor did they speak good English (if at all)...
More training would surely help.
Beijing is beautiful however and that made the stay enjoyable.

Stayed in the Great Wall Sheraton a nimbler of times I think the price is reasonable for the bed comfort. It is also close to the third ring road in Beijing so you do not get stuck in serious traffic if you want to get to the airport 35km away

This is an old hotel and shows a lot of wear and tear. If budget is not too much of a concern I would recommend choosing the other Sheraton (Dongcheng) or Westin nearby (for those SPG loyalty out there)

Pros: budget. close to the airport. polite staff.

Cons: stained carpet, old wooden furniture, mediocre bed, internet for a charge unless you are elite members.

As many others have mentioned, this hotels is a little antiquated considering the modernized Sheraton chained hotels frequented. However, there were a lot of perks by staying at this location. It is very close to the subway station and easy to get to and from. The room service and staff was great although the many had trouble speaking English. Nonetheless, much effort was given to assist with questions, offer suggestions and provide directions. My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Great Wall. If you book your hotel and venture on public transportation as we did, make sure that you clarify to those you ask for assistance that you are trying to get to the Sheraton location and if you can have the hotel information written in Chinese. We were initial guided in the direction of the Great Wall, which is a little distance from the hotel. The person at the airport provided us with directions to catch in the bus to the Great Wall instead of the hotel. We did not eat within the hotel as we traveled throughout the neighboring community and are what the locals feasted on! The internet worked well for us in the lobby. It would have been convenient to have it in the room, but it was okay.

I've stayed in a few Sheratons and this was the worst. The whole place was seriously dated. The breakfast selection was good and the service there fine. The show lounge had a "Three degrees" type group on which was good and the beer was moderately priced.

Don't believe the pictures on the Sheraton website! This place is quite dumpy compared to similar-priced hotels in the area. My husband and I arrived to check in after a long day of flying to discover that the first room (supposedly non-smoking) that we were given smelled strongly of smoke. The second room we were shown did as well, although not quite as strongly. The staff was difficult to communicate with (I do not speak Mandarin and they do not speak much English, including the concierge). We would have changed hotels had we not been exhausted. The area surrounding the hotel is quiet (its in the embassy area), although there are a few very good restaurants within walking distance. Beijing is a large city, and it is not close to the typical tourist sights. The one big "plus" is that the hotel is very near to a subway station. The subways in Beijing are very easy to navigate, cheap, and clean.
