“Pure luxury in Bejing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 August 2014 via mobile

Generously sized lobby with friendly reception staff. Competent. Efficient. Fresh flowers in beautifully arranged ensembles on all counters. We stayed in a suite on the 13th floor, end of the hallway. Quiet and well appointed. The hall houses the club , too. Breakfast and tea selections were extensive . Open bar after 5 o'clock on the 13th floor for members and guests to the suites.(I got an upgrade and sadly didn't belong to the selected group).Everything as you may know from Hong Kong. Bathroom de lux. My 6 year old gets a kick out of the TV above the tub. Living room area cosy. I appreciated the large executive desk with fax and printer. There was plenty of room to unpack and a dining table for 6 with a view. Tea and coffeemaker. Espresso machine. Heavenly beds. Super fast room and laundry service .And breakfast on 2 lower lobby levels was a dream's dream...this place must be ready to feed everything for everybody. Amazing. Stayed there twice , twice in a luxurious suite and hope for a return.

We arrived late on a rainy Saturday night to a warm welcome and a clean room. After our eighteen hour day that included touring Xian and a 5 hour train ride to Beijing, it was such a relief to walk into the hotel. We felt at home immediately. The reception was warm and helpful. The decor was modern and clean. The room service at midnight was prompt and satisfying. We couldn't ask for anything else those first few hours.
We started each morning with the breakfast buffet. It was the perfect foundation for a long day of touring the amazing city. After our day of touring, we would explore the neighborhood. The shopping in the nearby malls are just like any mall in America. Nothing special. However, the market was great. There were strange foods like scorpion on a stick. Peddlers abound hocking their wares. I would recommend walking around.
Bathrooms were clean and fresh. The only thing that could be added was a clothes line. Hotel laundry was not cheep. $5.50 USD to wash a pair of shorts.

We spend 4 nights in August and enjoyed our stay. The room was at the back of the hotel so it did not have much of a view but was very quiet. The room was spacious enough to comfortably hold a rollaway bed. The location was very convenient with major shopping malls, small convenience stores, subway stop and both street food market as well as a street vendor shopping mall all in very close walking distance. Two items prevent a five star rating: 1) I did not appreciate being scolded by a female supervisor in the breakfast buffet for getting my own refill of tea - didn't get her name but her tone was sharp and not at all what I experienced elsewhere in this hotel or in other Peninsula hotels, and; 2) the shower just had a fixed overhead showerhead and did not include a handheld shower which I would expect from this type of hotel. Otherwise, everything was excellent and would recommend this hotel.

I have stayed at this hotel only one time, and found it to be Good, (maybe without the very). The hotel is located in a main street close to some other good hotels, shopping malls, and street food market. The lobby is very extravagant and has a very luxurious shopping arcade, the restaurants are good as well and the bar is always packed. The rooms are a bit small and nothing wow, I personally find the Peninsula in Shanghai to be much more impressive. I arranged couple of sightseeing tours with the hotel and they were very profesional and nice. I consider this hotel to be slightly below the Peninsula standards.

Spent a week at this hotel (first week of August) can't really fault it, Rooms were spacious and very clean,Fresh linen on beds and towels every day and in the evening the beds were turned down ready for you, Breakfasts were fantastic set you up for the day, Very close to some very up market shops that were in addition to the ones inside the hotel, crossing the streets was a bit of a education, the usual rule of giving way to pedestrians on a crossing don't seem to apply. already making plans for a return next year.

Room Tip: Had a room at the rear of the hotel the view was not very good but not a problem for me.

This hotel was our first stop in our China tour. It is a beautiful hotel with extreme luxury. In the lobby there are many beautiful designer stores. The staff was very pleasant and our check in was very quick and efficient. The location was good because you are walking distance of a large shopping area and restaurant area.
