Landmark Towers Hotel

Most of the other reviews cover correctly what this hotel is all about: a somewhat aged property in a rather convenient location, if the Yansha (Lufthansa) area is where you need to be.

I stayed here recently for one night at a price of just over 500 CNY and was lucky to receive a room upgrade on top of this. The room was functional, used (but certainly not filthy), with everything functioning well and a suitably "fast" Internet connection (10 CNY per 10 minutes, up to a maximum of 60 CNY per day). The Hard Rock Cafe is in the same building, which may be appealing to some travelers. Overall, I think that the price was right, and there is nothing I could complain about.

In fact, I had stayed here once about six years ago, and what was very noticeable that the staff were making a big effort in terms of friendliness and courtesy - this has hugely improved.

I did not use the restaurant, so I cannot comment on the quality there. The Landmark Office Towers (1 min walk) have a somewhat hidden Starbucks in the lobby, where I got a latte instead as I was rather full from the day before.

If you are sensitive to city sounds, try and get a room not facing the third ring road; mine did but I did not mind. Also, be aware that like in most Chinese hotels the mattresses here are on the hard side.

Summary: if you can find a deal here, it might be appealing. For anything over 600 CNY I would choose to go elsewhere, for a price under this threshold I will happily stay again.

If you are looking for a basic business hotel on the East Third Ring Road, this should be the place to stay. The rooms are old and a bit small, but if all you do in the room is sleep then it should be fine. Unfortunately only wired Internet in the room, but the 24 hour restaurant has free WiFi and like the name says it's 24 hours.

Service in the hotel is a OK, while check-in/ check-out may take some time. For a non Chinese speaker conversations with the staff may pose a challenge, but they try. More than what you find in some places in countries where English is the native tongue.

The rooms are due for a major renovation, but are still OK for a short business trip. The location is excellent with good access to the surrounding business area as well as the airport.

If you don't expect a luxury hotel, are traveling on a budget, need a clean bed to sleep in then this is a great place to stay.

This hotel used to be nice a couple of years ago but now it is old and it smells mouldy, which also leaves a bad odor on the clothes. It is a pity but in China good maintance is obviously not a priority. I can not really recommend this hotel any more - sorry!

I used to stay here frequently in years gone by and read a few less than positive reviews when I was booking the room, so I stayed over for one night recently expecting the worst. Yes, it is getting tired and there are many newer alternatives in the area now, but it is not that bad.
The location still is a major bonus. There are many eating places in the complex and within walking distance (not just Hard Rock) which is a shadow of its former self more's the pity and you can get the subway just along the road.
For one or two nights business stopover I suppose it would be okay but for longer maybe try one of the newer options.

I spent four nights at the Landmark Hotel on a recent business trip. I was under the impression that the hotel had wireless Internet throughout, but it only had wi-fi in the lobby and in the hotel restaurant. And wired Internet in the room cost extra. That was probably the most disappointing thing about the hotel.

The room was small, but fine... not really anything worth writing home about. The best thing about the hotel was the breakfast buffet. There were a lot of selections, and the food was really good.

The Hard Rock Cafe is in the same building, if you're into that. There were shops within the hotel if you didn't feel like venturing out for souvenirs.

The hotel is conveniently located near the metro and withing walking distance of restaurants and shops. You aren't really close to major tourist sites out this way, but with the metro being close by, you can get where you need to go.

in beijing for the same money you can have much more. The room very average. Cartpet, walls and and equipment to be described in one word: old and messy. Smell of moisture in the corridors, carpet dirty not sufficiently hidden by the low lighting. From the air conditioning smell of sigarettes.
The people very friendly and helping and the congress center good and efficient. Good quality catering and restaurants.

In the 90's the Landmark and the adjacent Great Wall Sheraton were two of the top hotels in the capital. This may no longer be true, but the Landmark still has its strengths. Excellently located on the east third ring road just northeast of the Diplomatic quarter and Sanlitun Village, it is also a short walk from the hotel to the Lufthansa centre, which used to be the best shopping mall in the city. And it has the Beijing Hard Rock Cafe, which at one time was a popular destination but now feels a bit like “The Bar That Time Forgot”. Over many years as Beijing changed and grew and new hotels opened all over, the Landmark became tired and dated. In the last few years the hotel upgraded itself and the area around has perked up as well. There a several restaurants in the shopping mall next door and a Starbucks. And while the rooms are a bit dark and feel like slightly better versions of the typical local 4 star, the service is friendly and efficient, the facilities clean, breakfast good. The Landmark's best days may be behind it, but it is aging more gracefully than most hotels of its era.

Room Tip: Rooms vary a lot, try for an upgrade if available
