The rooms are clean and looks quite nice. The service is good. Most of the staff can speak English. The location is good as well. It is pretty close to some shopping areas as well as the train station.
This is a hotel that lives up to its 4-star standard, unlike some others who claim to be a 4-star hotel but does up to par.

50 yds from the best shopping street in Beijing - Wangfujing Street. Hotel is beautifully clean, the staff are wonderful and incredibly helpful, right from the Front Officer Manager to the dining room waitress. Our room was on the street side, but the street noise certainly didnt bother us.. we actually opened the window and had our own entertainment watching the taxi's, cars, buses & cyclist vendors in the street below. The beds were a little hard, but then again, it did my back the world of good!

Room Tip: TIP To get to the hotel with the english language poor taxi drivers,.. just tell them Wangfujing Str...

Very nice, modern facility when we visited. Delicious, extensive breakfast buffet daily to accommodate Asian, American, or any international traveler's expectations. Would definitely stay there again. Became a HUGE fan of the steamed milk they offered each morning to go in coffee. Nicely located near stores and restaurants.

Hotel is well situated but I can't say anything good about others...
The concierge attitude towards us was terrible. The concierge was rude to us when we asked him were did the taxi go (we called a taxi and was late by around 15 mins).
The gym is closed and there was no notice on their website that it is closed.
No control over smoking or non smoking floor. We chose a non-smoking floor and there were still people smoking and we can smell it in the whole floor.
Taxi is very difficult to get at that location. You can see taxi drivers waiting around but they will ask for a high price for a trip and won't even put their meter. I asked one of the taxi driver outside the hotel to go to a place not too far, around 10-15 mins drive, he said 120RMB....I can go to the airport almost TWICE with that price.
This hotel is blacklisted for me. Very disappointed.

Like most other reviews, this hotel's value comes from its location and relatively reasonable price. Located within walking distance (15-20 minutes) of Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City and right next to Wangfujing Street, it's really hard to beat the location. The breakfast buffet was also quite good. My room -- on the executive 11th floor -- was good enough. Overall, it's a perfectly decent place to stay but nothing to rave about.

This hotel is in a great location. The food was good. The service was good. The beds were horrible! They did not have mattresses. Maybe this is how they do it in China - I'm not sure?

The North Garden Hotel is located in the middle of Wangfujing area, which is like Times Square in NYC. You are quick walk to banking, shopping, dining, and a metro station. You are also only one block away from Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant, the original Peking Duck. It has been opened since the 1800’s and one of the best meals you will have in China.

The hotel property is old, tired, and in desperate need of new paint, carpet and light fixtures. The carpet and finish in the rooms is stained and old. However, the towels and linens were very clean. You will be sleeping on box springs, not mattresses, so it is a very firm sleeping experience.

Do not believe the non-smoking signs. People in Beijing pretty much light up whenever and wherever they want, except for the subway and McDonalds.

The hotel does offer free Wi-Fi. The bandwidth is slow and you will need a password from the front desk. There is also a favorable currency exchange at the hotel, but you will need US currency in very good condition, do not bring torn or stained bills.

Book this hotel for the low nightly rate and the proximity to Wangfujing. This is a 2 star property at best, on par with a Motel 6 in the USA. The cabs at the airport will try to sell you a fixed rate fare of 200RMB. Insist on the metered cab fare from the airport and it should be around 70-80RMB or approximately $13.00.

Room Tip: The 9th floor is the only non-smoking floor at the hotel
