“Good Location, Bad Breakfast.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2009

The location is superb. It is walking distance to the Beijing International Convention Center (BICC), the National Stadium a.k.a. The Giant Bird's Nest, the Swimming Complex a.k.a. The Cube, and to other hotels, reataurants, eateries and supermarkets that are all a stone's throw away. The rooms and bathrooms are basic and clean. Towels and toiletries are replaced every day. The rooms come with free internet, but provides only 1 cable. If there are more than 1 user, you may have to bring your own router. Walls are thin and i could hear banging of doors from my neighbors. Breakfast buffet is quite bad. Everything is glistening in oil, even the rice. And the selection is very strange, with weird combinations of different dishes. I skipped breakfast after my first morning there. Not to worry, Beijing food is quite cheap and you may simply step outside to find more eateries that won't cost you more than 2 USD. Lastly, my male colleagues did complain about knocking in the middle of the night. A lady claimed to have been phoned by my colleagues and had requested for her "services". Also, there are quite a few men and women loitering along the streets outside passing around Business cards of these "ladies with special services". Sometimes, they can be quite persistent. All in all, i would recommend this hotel for those who don't spend all day at the hotel. It is good value for money.

I stayed at the Yayuncun Hotel (Building A) in Beijing for a conference in May. It was well located and close to the conference venue (BICC). The room was clean but the floor planks looked affected by moisture, which was visually not appealing. The room and linen were clean otherwise, and internet was free. Hot water kettle in the room and cups/etc., made it easy to make tea/coffee in the morning. Breakfast was included in my rate but I never ate there so can't comment on that. The only thing that was not nice is that the bathroom had no barrier/shower stall to prevent the water from the shower from coming all over the bathroom floor. That was annoying to me, but I have lived in many places and am used to all sorts of bathrooms so I just dealt with that! No hairdryer in the room but they brought me one when I asked for it on the first day and didn't take it away until the end, so that worked well too. All in all, if you need a reasonable and decent place to stay while attending a conference at BICC, this could work well. It's not like one spends a lot of time in the room when you're at a conference anyway!

We stayed here for one week while attending the World Solar Energy Congress at the Beijing International Convention Center. The price was a reasonable $40/night. The simple but satisfying breakfast buffet was a very reasonable 20 yuan (about $3.00) The rooms were clean, with satellite tv, and the internet was available in room for 20 yuan per day. We just had to make a phone call to housekeeping to request it.

Highly recommended for anyone attending an event at the BICC, which is within easy walking distance. The hotel is located within the Asian Games Village. We found the North Star Shopping Center just around the corner, which had a big grocery store on the main floor. We had lunch and supper at the Congress every day, so we didn't try any of the surrounding restaurants.

It is far from the action of the main attractions - Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, etc., but taxis are so plentiful and cheap that it wasn't that much of an inconvenience.

Hope this helps someone out there. We were desperately trying to find a review for this place.
