“Modern, Convenient and Centrally located”
Reviewed 4 March 2013

I can't say enough about this property. This was my first time in China and I would recommend this place to anyone who wishes to stay in Beijing. The overall property is well maintained, clean and conveniently located w/in walking distance of the subway and other modern conveniences. The staff is professional, personable and will ensure your satisfaction throughout your stay.

The rooms are comfortable and clean. It is clearly obvious careful attention is paid to details here. There is decent WIFI all throughout the building (even in the rooms). The room service is prompt and the offerings are tasty.

One of the great things about this place is that they will give you the bank rate for currency exchange. There is no need to go to the bank for the best rate; the front desk has a real-time link to the current exchange rate and will honor that rate.

TIP: For BEST rates, bring a cashier's check.

The property is closely located to a Starbucks and other "western" conveniences. There is no real culture shock outside of seeing a Ferrari dealer next to a Lamborghini dealer right next door to each other.

It's a great place and centrally located. You won't regret staying there.

Room Tip: If you're taking the subway, you will get off on Line 5 at the Dengshikou station. When you exi...

We stayed here 14 to 21 February and found it an ideal place in all respects. The location is excellent - within walking distance of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City as well as other attractions if you feel fit. The hotel is conveniently built over a line 5 metro station if your feet start to ache. The metro, by the way, is fast and efficient and subsidised so any journey will cost only 2RNB per person including the journey out to the Summer Palace (which requires a change of line). Line 5 will take you out to "Ghost Street" which is full of cheap restaurants full of locals, to the Lama Temple and, in the other direction, to the Temple of Heaven

We used the hotel restaurant mainly for breakfast which was quite sufficient to start the day. We had one bar meal which was fine but for the true experience you have to get out and eat locally where there is more variety and it is cheaper, especially if you try the street food and are willing to take a chance on restaurants. Re the street food, be aware that some of it is there for the tourists and the Chinese tend to chuckle at westerners foolish enough to try it. Steamed dumplings and pork buns will get you through the day and you rarely go wrong with a noodle soup. The local Yanjing beer is marginally better than the ubiquitous Tsingdao. There are also local microbreweries but, alas, I didn't find them.

General tips: If you have the time you should visit the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, and the National Museum of China on Tiananmen Square. Don't believe the tourist brochures which offer a morning at the Forbidden City - you need a day to take it in and preferably a day and a half. The concierge at the Park Plaza can sort out a trip to the Wall (circa 350RNB per person for a tour group, more for a private visit) but be aware that these group trips also include a Jade Factory and a Silk Manufacturer which were an irritation.

A cab to the hotel from the airport is currently around 100RNB, a people carrier is around 580RNB. Taxis are metered and if the driver turns the meter off you should decline the trip if you can.

Conclusion: if we find ourselves in Beijing again then the Park Plaza would be top of my list for a return visit

At check in they offered a free upgrade which is always a nice start. We only stayed for one day but it was an excellent stay. The bed is great. The bathroom was pristine. Appears to be a very well run property. The subway exit is in the building - just around the corner from the hotel entrance.

Stayed here Saturday and Sunday of Chinese New Year weekend, while visiting a friend in Beijing. The hotel was very luxurious. One of the nicest I've ever stayed in!

The only qualm was that they almost tried TOO HARD to demonstrate great service. They called my room twice on Sunday to see how my stay was and woke me up during a nap. I thought the calls were a bit excessive by Western standards.... Once I check in, leave me alone, and I'll let you know if I need anything...

But Overall, a great experience.

Stayed here for nearly a week and the hotel was excellent. Excellent location on Jinbao Street - you can walk to the main streets of Wangfujing and the main shopping areas within minutes. It takes about 30-40 minutes to walk to Tian'anmen Square. There is a subway station right around the corner from the hotel as well.

We originally had only booked a room with one double bed between 3 adults but the staff gladly supplied an extra bed free-of-charge so all 3 of us could sleep comfortably. The room and facilities were modern, in working order and the free wi-fi was great and easy to connect to. Staff were very friendly.

Overall this is an excellent value-for-money hotel located in one of the best areas of Beijing.

Stayed at Park Plaza for a week. The hotel has nice rooms with a great view over Beijing. The Concierge service is good, but the Hotel restaurant is not impressive. The breakfast is ok, but I missed more local dishes on the dinner menu. Half-honest attempts on making European cusine did'nt pay off....

All in all, recommended!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room in the upper floors for the view.
