A-hotel Workers Stadium Beijing
Ranked #3,217 of 6,528 Hotels in Beijing
Reviewed 6 December 2010

I've previously housed a number of visitors at the A.Hotel but I put my sisters up at A. Hotel while they were down in Beijing and am now convinced that A. Hotel is one of the best boutique hotels in town purely for its combination of a great location, fantastic price range and much improved service quality. While it's not as extravagant as Hotel G and Opposite House, two other boutique hotels in the area, it is by far the most reasonably priced. Goes to show that even in a city like Beijing where hotel / boutique rates range in the thousands, you can still get a good deal. Better off spending money on the fine dining outlets and bars in the city. And after a long night out, my sisters were thankful the hotel was so close by. It would have been a nightmare traveling across town just to get a good nights sleep.

The rooms are clean and comfortable -- no complaints there. My sisters stayed in the Superior Fashion Room, which had an open jacuzzi at the front of the room, facing the bed -- a little kitsch but it provided a good laugh. Not necessary for my sisters but I'm sure it'll appeal to couples wanting a romantic getaway.

The staff are fairly fluent in English. There was a bit of a communication problem at one point but that was quickly sorted out by the British-Chinese deputy manager on duty at the time. I'm told he even recommended a good deal of places for my sisters to visit while I was at work and unable to take them out. Definitely made their stay more enjoyable and helped take the stress of having to juggle family and work off me too!

I booked this hotel via Booking.com because of the great location!
After a long day of sightseeing that ended in Sanlitun, , I was looking for a unique boutique hotel that had all my basics covered. This place is super convenient. Rooms are comfortable, and everything is in great condition. I would have preferred wireless internet but the wired connection was adequate.
The overall experience was excellent due to the friendly, helpful staff. I got a free upgrade on arrival too!

One of the best boutique hotels around here in this price range. Ive stayed at A.hotel for some time now due to office being close by. For the price, its a very good stay. A considerable improvement than earlier this year. I don't mind staying here anymore, even recommended to friends. My only gripe was the long corridor but hey.....

Thank you very much for the kind comments. We value your feedback and we are tremendously glad that you are enjoying your stay with us and also recommended us to your friends and family. The long corridors are truly unique to the hotel.

The location is GOOD, which I care the most. It's about 15 minutes' walk to MTR 2 or 10, 10 minutes' walk to Sanlitun Village. There're also some bars nearby, good for relaxing at night but could be too noisy for sleep quality. And when there's a football match, it would be quite a special experience 'cause the hotel is just a part of the stadium. Its canteen and the other lobby are still under construction, to be finished soon. Well, personally I love the interior decoration, fashion and cool. And the service is o.k.

The rooms are round the outside of the worker's stadium; a long walk to the rooms round the circumference of the stadium. The rooms are functional, small and compact, some (not mine) with a jacuzzi bath in the bedroom itself - not to everyone's taste. No English or any other foreign TV channels, but free Internet access in the room - bring your own laptop.

This "hotel" has none of the usual facilities you would expect; no concierge, no shop, no gym or leisure facilities; not even sure if they offer laundry service - there was nothing in my room about this. There is a combined restaurant / bar which sells Italian food but the staff always outnumbered the very few diners that there were, and that included at breakfast time also.

Location is about 20 minutes walk to the subway (Line 2) but plenty of taxis going past on the main road. One plus point is that almost all taxi drivers know the stadium and have no problems finding it.

I've marked this hotel "poor" as it is really just a collection of rooms and does not live up to its advertising hype of "A.hotel A dream A fantasy" - certainly not my dream, but not quite a nightmare either.

We stayed four nights at the A.Hotel in Beijing. The hotel is special because it is part of the Worker's stadium. The room windows are in the outer circular wall that forms the stadium's edge.

Since we never used the hotel's restaurant, our interaction with the staff was mostly limited to check-in and check-out. The staff's English is average. We had some issues at check-out because the satff wasn't able to cancel the credit card pre-payment authorization because I wanted to pay with another credit card. They had to charge me one cent to cancel it. I think they are not used to deal with foreign credit cards. So I wouldn't recommend the hotel if you expect a lot of service and are afraid to interact with Chinese who sometimes will need time to understand you.

Our room was spacious: big bed, LCD TV, sofa, several armchairs, desk. All the furniture was new. In fact, everything in the hotel seemed to be new. I think the hotel opened this year. I would qualify the interior design as "Chinese modern kitsch". Flashy red and dark. I liked it.

The hotel is located west of the Forbidden City. It takes a 15 minute cab ride to get there. The closest subway stations are 10-15 minutes away by foot. The hotel is nearby Sanlintun: the entertainment area in the western part of Beijing (Chaoyang). You will find there shops, restaurants and bars visited by foreigners. There also a couple of night clubs in the aera. I'd liked the nearby Bookworm, a cafe that is also an English library and bookshop. In the nearby Village shopping mall is the first Apple Store of China.

To sum it up: we liked the location near Sanlitun, the modern and spacious room; we found the service a bit disappointing.
