We recently spent 6 nights at the Ritz-Carlton Beijing Financial Street at the beginning of a two-week vacation in China. All our experiences at this hotel were very positive and we would definitely consider staying here again during a future visit to Beijing.
We arrived at the hotel late on a Saturday night and were promptly greeted at the reception desk. The only hiccup we had during our entire stay was that we were provided a King, Smoking room upon check-in, even though we confirmed that we were receiving a non-smoking room when we were handed the keys. After a trip up to the room and discovering it was a smoking room, we returned to the reception desk to be switched rooms. The reception desk worker was apologetic and promptly found us another room. This time, the reception manager accompanied us to the room to ensure that it was suitable and thankfully it absolutely was.
Although I am Gold in the Ritz-Carlton Rewards Program and the reservation reflected an upgrade had been provided, the room we ended up receiving was the exact category we booked. After a 13.5-hour flight and one trip down to the reception desk to switch rooms, we were not in the mood to question the room category. The room was non-smoking and had a king bed. We were satisfied!
The room was very nicely appointed and had a very comfortable bed, electronic shades, and plenty of lighting options. The bathroom had a walk-in shower, a soaking tub, and a double vanity. The toiletries were Asprey products and were replenished regularly. Housekeeping was very efficient and always replenished the coffees and complimentary bottles of mineral water on a daily basis.
The hotel is located in the business district, so it is very quiet at night. However, this is a positive things for us as we really like the quiet at night. The main metro line was a 15-minute walk from the hotel and it was just a few stops to Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing. The hotel is also about a 20-minute walk from the Bei Hai Park and Hou Hai District. There is a high-end mall next door to the hotel, which appears to have late operating hours.
We only had one meal at the hotel, which was lunch at the main restaurant in the lobby. It was very good and very reasonably priced.
Overall, I would say that our stay at this hotel was very pleasant and we would definitely consider staying here again on a future visit to Beijing.
