“Large Hotel near Western Train Station, but far from tourist spots”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

I stayed here as it was close to my office. There were no foreigners here, besides myself. The hotel had 7 stars, which I have to believe is a self-rated review.

The hotel had an immense lobby & the rooms were decent sized. Being that this is far from the tourist destinations, my internet was severely limited. More likely what the Chinese nationals would have access to versus a more open internet service at foreigners hotels. Even with a VPN the internet was very slow.

I'm staying at this hotel with my tour group. seems like this hotel is cater to big groups. so it's always crowded, especially at breakfast area, it's always full and packed with people.
Arrive at 3am from a long haul flight from singapore in a very cold night at november and found that the receptionists can't speak english. Needles to say, there were no smile or greeting to welcome the guests.

The room is somehow old, but clean. There's no international channel on TV and the room heater is set centrally. sometimes we have to turn off the heater because the room getting hotter than we needed to. Bathroom is clean and well lit, with standard amenities of 3 star hotel.

The location is the biggest setback. it is far from everywhere. plus, you cannot communicate with the hotel staff to get information of the surroundings. So it's so difficult when we want to go out of our own to have some drinks or convenience store. It is very near to the Beijing west railway station if you want to go to the other part of china.

Overall good but not 5 stars as promised - 3 maybe. Location is the biggest problem of this hotel. Is remote fron the city center and no metro nearby. In the morning you can take a cab (22 yuan to Tyananmen sq.) but in the evening it can be tough. Construction site just outside the building was making noise all the night. The room was very big and clean, but no dresser - you wonder where to put your clothes. Spacious bathroom with all toiletery but no hear conditioner and you can not take a shower or a bath without making a big puddle in the middle of the bathroom. The stuff was very friendly but nobody speaks English. In spite of that we were able to order a taxy twice which arrived to pick us up in 5-10 minutes. NO RESTOURANT on premises after 20:30 - this was a blow when we returned late from our first day of exploring the city! Later we learned from our fellow travellers that you can order McDonalds or KFS, there are branches nearby and they deliver 24X7. BUT nobody at the reception suggestet it to us when we were asking about where we can find a place to eat late in the evening. There is a small chinese restaurant nearby, simple and fresh chinese food. No English, you order by the pictures - manageable.

We’re so disappointed with this hotel since checking in. No smile, no greeting, and not even eye contact with us. We need to carry our luggages from entrance to the front counter, then to the hotel rooms.

Hotel lifts are always stop at the Spa Centre floor to attract people. Very irritating!

The one and only impressive area is the hotel lobby with limited seats for guests & decorated with artificial flowers on an old-fashioned table.

Room condition is not up to the standard of 5-star. Smelly carpets, yellowed-stained tiles, old & bulky TV, weird air-cond system & no wifi in room really cut down the rating. Well, the Chinese tea sold at lobby snack area is 5-star priced.

None of the hotel staff could communicate in simple English. Zero customer service for tourists. Our request (spoke in Mandarin) to book a taxi was rejected by counter personnel but the same service was provided to other local guests!

Daily complimentary breakfast is horribly lousy. Bad air circulation. Same oily & tasteless food is served everyday & the choices are limited & only suitable for local people. We stayed there for 7 days -- breakfast menu never change.

600m to McDonald's & 1.5km to Carrefour.

We stayed 6 nights with this 5* hotel, room is very clean with daily room service, bed is comfortable, and the rest may not be bothering us much as we are out of the hotel most of the time. Location wise, it is a bit of problem because that is no subway connection from the main line 1 to Guangán Road, we found lost in two occasions when came back from Beijing West Station which is just about 15 minutes walk from the hotel due to the different gates of BWS, and end out to take a taxi back for RMB40 and took a public bus No. 414 for RBM2 in another incident, surprisingly, both took a long journey to reach the hotel. Breakfast is 100% NO CHANGE for our 7 days stayed, I think they should make changes for at least one or two items in their daily breakfast menu. Hotel provide free wifi at the lobby, the Duty Manager help to get a taxi and carry our luggage's to the taxi outside the hotel when we are leaving for the airport, this is the added-value as I consider them to maintain as 5* hotel.

I joined a package tour and was assigned this hotel.
The hotel looks grand from outside but the lobby and room are dated.
Bed was comfortable, bathroom ok but floor tiles and bathtub were a bit yellowed with stains. Water and toiletries were replenished daily.
No major shopping centres nearby.
However there are shops selling tea (tea distributors I heard) 2 junctions away from the hotel, approximately 5-10min walk. Also there's a Carrefour about 20 min walk from the hotel.
My major complaint is the receptionists. Find them inefficient, unfriendly and sulky.
If I come to Beijing again, I will like to try another hotel nearer to the sights and public transport, hopefully with better service too

We stayed there for 5D4N. We arrived 9am in the morning and they accept early check-in with a deposit of RMB100. Reception staff dont speak chinese, so we were having a hard time having conversation with them. Good thing our tour guide was able to talk to them via phone. The room that they gave us was huge! (1601 corner room). Good for more than 3pax! Clean room. Bed sheets are clean but a bit old and run down. Barhroom is big with complete toiletries (toothbrush, comb, etc). No free coffee (for a cofffee drinking person), they provide 2 types of tea. Although you can have your coffee at breakfast. Breakfast menu is everyday the same. So if you're going to stay for a week, plan your breakfast (lol). They allow smoking at the lobby. There is a wifi connection at the lobby though they turn it off around 9pm (?). I would say it was a very descent stay for a LOCAL 4-star hotel.
