Leo Guesthouse is properly one of the worst budget-experiences I've ever had! And then you might questions the ”budget”-part.

After weeks of confusing mail-correspondence where nobody answered, we finally got arranged pick-up at the airport (as they say they do) – but nobody showed!! So we had to take a taxi ourselves after waiting forever.

The room was not ready when we arrived and there were no hot water the first two days. The unpleasant girl in the reception said that we could use upstairs bathroom – even though we had already paid for a private bathroom (useless with no hot water). The humidity in the room was unbearable! Like living in a basement with mold. The duvet actually seemed wet in the morning.

We paid for the room including breakfast – but was just told that this was not possible and must have been a mistake on the booking-site. No compensation!
We also paid for free Wii-fii in the room – but there was no such thing!

They advertise that they are ”budget” or have ”student-friendly” prices – but actually it is not the cheapest place in the hood and food are quit expensive here.

Then we wanted to check-out Leo Courtyard instead (stayed there three years ago and it was okay). But a very impolite girl refused to show us a room before booking: ”You see room when check-in” she answered.

It's a money-machine and they will charge you for everything – even the city-maps that are usually free.

Food are okay – but expensive and standard. The beds are rock-hard, but that is properly just chinese standard....still uncomfortable though.

Would definitely NOT recommend any of the Leo-Hostels!

Good bar/common area and hostel itself is in a good location with main sights and restaurants close by. Dorms ok but big room with many people who never locked the door. Also stayed in a private room which was quite shabby and the lights in the bathroom stopped working so had to shower in the dark. Paid for washing to be done came back dirty and damp. They also lost of pair of my jeans. Made me look thought everyone else's washing and when I still couldn't find them had to wait till the next day to see if anyone handed them in. We had to check out and with no sign of my jeans asked to speak to the manager - the receptionist kept giggling about the situation the whole time which wasnt nice. Manager basically shrugged his shoulders. Started arguing in the reception area and in the end he brought out the member of staff and said all he could do was take money off her to pay for the jeans to make me feel bad. Shame as it put a negative slant on our stay there.

Visit during China Worst 61 years rainstorm that hit Beijing capital on Saturday evening around 5pm. Flood everywhere on the small alley road leading to Leo Hostel. But, luck the water never flow into the hostel.

Everyone busy with chat and surfing internet. Drinking cold beer...:-)

Twin sharing room cost about Yuan $248.

Easy to reach once you get out of Beijing railway Station and walk to main street of highway (across the bridge and shopping mall and pass thru underpass to get opposite site leading to Tianmen). Take bus No.20,59,120 and 692. Just pay Yuan $1. About 7~8 stop and get down (Qianmen- Front Door in chinese translation)

Walking distance to Tianmen and MTR from Leo Hostel.About 10mins. Cheap and nice restaurant opposite Leo Hostel. Many convenient shop and very safe as Police Station near by,

I liked the location of Leo but it left a few things to be desired. It is in a good location in Beijing but the street outside smelled like sewage. The air conditioner leaked water all over the bed. When we wanted to check out to catch an early train we had to spend 15 minutes trying to wake the up staff member sleeping in the lobby.

Great location, close to tiananmen square. It was very rainy during my 3 night visit, the bathroom flooded from the light fixture, and down the walls, water all over the dorm room floor- other than that the rooms were nice, the bathrooms were clean, decent food. Staff was not very friendly, they returned my friends laundry still wet and in a bag- so it smelled like mildew and wasn't clean.
