“When you are in Beijing ZPARK (Zhong Guan Cun Ruan Jian Yuan)”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 August 2012

My rating is about 3.2 for this site. I have been using this chain lately and I found it good for low budget business travel.

First, the location of ZPARK is not really you want to stay in Beijing, unless you are interested the "Summer Palace", or "Yuan Ming Yuan". It is kind of far away from all the night lives in Beijing. However, we travel for getting our business done, so, with all the software developers in that area, we got to stay in some places that are not necessary fun.

Having said so, this hotel is located in Shangdi, about 10 minutes walk from a subway station. There are a lot of buses go through this area, including one from Beijing Airport (, I think it is 16 Yuan RMB; looking for Shang-di or Zhong-guan-cun route). Taxi fare from airport to this hotel is under 150 Yuan (RMB) so it is not really that expensive either.

The room is neat and clean. If you are a person need good amenities, this is not your hotel. The room follows typical Holiday Inn Express standard: Shower, clean bed(s), hair dryer, desk, TV, free internet, telephone, tooth brushes, combs, shower gel and shampoo/conditioner are mounted on the wall of shower room, in-room AC control. Basic stuff, neat and clean. The room may be a bit smaller than normal US hotels, but it is good size for four-or five-days stay.

Breakfast is provided and included in the room rate. You can also order lunch (and maybe dinner, I did not try) for about 30-40 Yuan RMB. Limited selection, but it is OK if you are not picky. You can get soft drinks on the "Lounge" in first floor. I don't remember they have alcoholic beverages (probably not). One convenient store on the first floor but I did no buy anything there.

There are washer and dryer in the "Laundry Room". You need to get the tokens (20 RMB each, one for washer and one for dryer) from the front desk. There are detergents in the Laundry room. You an send for dry clean or launder as well.

There are a few things you might want to bear in mind to make your stay easier. First, it is almost impossible to find a taxi in the morning during rush hour. That means it is better you can have arranged transportation or you know how to use the bus. Secondly, there is a 7-11 in the apartment building next to the hotel. You can find beer there. Thirdly, the front desk people are trying their best to assist you, if you cannot communicate with them, may be find a bilingual guest, like yours truly, to help you. Don't get frustrated ;-).

There are restaurants near by but I only tried one of the "Hot-Pot" (Sha-bu-shia-bu) place on the "Shang-di 3rd St.") near one of the major intersection a few blocks from the hotel. Price and food quality are good.

The price is higher than the one I stayed in Louhu in Shenzhen, but it is still a good value compared with other four start hotels.

We use this hotel regularly when working in the Silicon Valley of China. this hotel is moderately priced (great value). the staff are outstanding and the rooms are great. Obviously soft, Western style beds, my first criteria, super fast internet and QUIET. it also has a shuttle bus (privately operated) that will take you to the airport for RMB16 instead of RMB120 in a taxi. Remember though that it takes nearly 50% longer on the bus but you go a different way so you see something new.

Excellent breakfast included in the room rate and the dinner meals are well priced for the convenience of them but the menu is not extensive so don't count on eating there every night on an extended stay.

Room Tip: The subway is only about 700 metres away, easy to use. book well in advance to get a room.

Stayed here for two weeks on business travel and wasn't bad at all. Clean and the staff is nice. Don't stay here if you want to be in the city though. It's a long way from anything on the sight seeing side of Beijing. The subway isn't too far away though (a couple blocks walking) and Beijing's metro is cheap and efficient. I used it often to get into the city and try some restaurants I'd heard about. Also, don't expect much English this far out from the city center...

Holiday Inn Express at Shangdi Beijing is an average property. Its quite far from Beijing city centre. Its advisable to stay here only if you have work in this area.Best thing about the hotel is there is direct bus service from Airport to this hotel and back every 30 minutes. Not enough food for vegetarians...but thats normal in China....Hotel is clean...front staff knows english which is helpful...dont make any International calls from this hotel...they will rip u off...Business Centre is excellent...Overall its a basic nice, clean hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised, after a very long plane ride, to find myself in a Holiday Inn in Beijing that rivaled any 4 star hotel I've been at in the US. Only there two nights and very busy so not a lot of time to explore the hotel, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Several spoke English well, which helped greatly. The rooms were clean and fresh, as well as roomy and well appointed. The linens were excellent and the bed slightly firm and very comfortable.

For those of you unaccustomed to Chinese style restrooms, it's all western and comfortable here. The price was reasonable and all in all an excellent value.

Well, I have to admit as a holiday inn hotel, it's not that excellent, when I first arrived, I was surprised that it didn't even have fridge in-room, nor is there a gym. I stayed at the hotel for nearly 5 months, from March to August 2011, on and off, because the client is closeby and there's not much choice if I don't want to commute in the infamous Beijing peak hour traffic.
But all the staff were very friendly, although sometimes not proficient, they all meant well and willing to give you a hand. Given the price paid, I think it's worth the money.

Our office moved to a location near here (Zhonguancun Software Park). So, we decided to stay here, and avoid Beijing traffic.

The location is convenient. There is a free shuttle to the software park, as well as other high tech business nearby. There is no return shuttle, but you can find a taxi.

The hotel itself is not special. It's relatively new, so rooms are in good shape. The hotel seems aimed not at foreigners, but for Chinese. Many signs and brochures are not printed in English, only Chinese. The restaurant is very basic, with a couple fixed meals at night. Breakfast is ok, mostly Chinese.

For me, I'll probably stay further away next time at a nicer hotel and take the subway up. But, if you have business up here, don't want to deal with traffic or the subway, this is a reasonable alternative.
