This hotel is old, and in need of some updating, and cleaning. But its defiantly a great affordable stay for a few nights.

They have decent staff that speak english ( which is always helpful) and the breakfast is a buffet with western food options.

The best part about this hotel is its location. Located just 1 street behind " Ghost Street" its in the heart of the downtown night life and restaurants.

I'm an American traveler that was going through Asia and trying to maintain safety and cleanliness while on a reasonable budget.... There are some rather annoying problems to contest with that may make you want to check around. The a/c doesn't really work. I was with a large group and no one could get their room below 80 degrees F (27/28C). There were some major issues using the internet and other small things that can be a pain when you just want to use the hotel as a place to crash. The location, however, is AMAZING. Cannot beat the area, it has western toilets, the breakfast is good, and overall it worked out well

The hotel staff were not friendly upon arrival into the hotel and hardly any english was spoken. We were not left feeling welcome at all. For a cheaper hotel I guess that's what you get. The rooms are really average, you can get more for your money in Shanghai. The food in the restaurant looked average. There are no lighting in the hallway of the fifth floor. I wouldn't try the spa it looked dodgy. I wouldn't go back.

We stayed here for one night this August. Just a note, it is quite hidden! We had the address in Chinese but the Taxi drivers still had trouble finding it because it's down a very narrow side street - but, if you want to experience another side of Beijing, this street comes alive at night! Lined with small family business restaurants and bars, and people cooking on the street, its a great atmosphere!

The rooms are fine for the price. It's not the cleanest hotel in the world, the beds are quite hard and the towels are very thin. The entrance of the hotel is lovely and the staff are very friendly, helpful and speak English. If you are looking for a budget hotel in Beijing then this is definitely a good option.

Stayed 2 nights here last week. The hotel is not flash, but clean and still had some charm. Our double room was nicer than a friends twin, light colours in room and nice glass wall to bathroom which let in light. Unfortunately there was no way to have a shower without flooding whole bathroom floor. Friend in different room had same problem, a design flaw. Breakfast was good and there was some nice areas to eat it, complete with birds in little cages. Very Chinese. The value of this hotel lays in the hutongs/ streets around which come alive at dusk with red lanterns denoting restaraunts being lit. Food is cooked on braziers in the street and it it wonderful to find a place and have fun ordering dinner via charades!
This hotel is good value for money.

Stayed here many times since my first trip to China in 1999 and have seen many changes round about but this area has kept it's charm. Close to Lama temple and easy walking distance to 3 subway stations.Good supermarket at the end of the hutong to the east. Food Street is just around the corner and a couple of good massage places close by. We always rent bikes from a place nearby and easy cycle to Hou Hai, Bei Hai and Sanlitun and even 798 is not too far to cycle. Don't miss the BBQ leg of mutton along the hutong to the west (if it is still there! )but go early to get a table. Hotel is 3 star so don't expect too much. It is clean and comfortable and we had cable internet in the room although not always reliable. Reception is helpful, not great on English and not too sure of some tourist sites but all you need is a tourist map and a guide book and Beijing By Foot if you like to walk.
