I used to stay there during many trips to Beijing, but now the hotel has faded. No more service at the desk. We had to wait 3 hours until our room was cleaned !!! Anything to offer us while waiting? Nothing ! The staff at the desk hardly spoke English, and they are not more very friendly. This was the last time. Ps. the taxis do not want to go there often. We were very disappointed.

The localization is very good, is between Tiananmen Square and Wangfujing Street.
There is a metro station right in front of the hotel.

The outside and hotel lobby is very beautiful, but the room is too simple for a 5 star hotel.
The furniture is too old e cleaning is inexistent. We stayed for four days and they only changed the towels and nothing more. The room remaind dirt for all the time.

The breakfast is terrible.

This is a great example of a hotel that was once great, but is now in decline, but continues to portray itself as a 5 star hotel.

True, it has a 5 star location. Walking distance to many sights and right next to a very busy pedestrian shopping area. But the rooms have fallen onto hard times and they are clearly at the 3 star level. Our room smelled of stale cigarette smoke and looked like it had had only a cursory cleaning. Worse, the bathrooms are similar to what you will find in a 2 star motel. Mold and mildew galor.

Location is great and the lobby is beautiful, including the mandatory Rolex store. But don't expect the same level of cleanliness and service beyond.

Breakfast was only okay, but really nothing measured up to what we experienced in other 5 star offerings in China.

Yes, it's true, the location is great. But that's where the positives end. Because of a summit meeting in Beijing when I arrived, there was a lot of security at the entrance to the hotel. In fact you had to go through an x ray machine and subject yourself to being patted down every time you went in or out of any side of the building. This was annoying but understandable, except that there was no apology for the inconvenience to the guest, and the side entrance was closed at times that suited the staff. The staff at check in were unsmiling and rude, barking out questions and next minute grabbing my passport and walking away with it. Restaurant staff were just as bad. The windows in the bedroom were dirty and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in years. When I tried to go up to the 17th floor to see the view, a security guard shouted at me to get back in the lift, and noone I asked seemed to know where the swimming pool was. And when I booked a car to take me to the airport, like at most good hotels in Beijing, I was told that I wasn't a privileged guest so couldn't have one! It just had the feel of a state-run institution where customer service isn't necessary or encouraged, yet the website tries to imply this is a 5-star hotel where you will be welcomed and pampered. This is not the worst hotel in the world, but it is very much the worst so-called luxury hotel I have ever stayed at.

Best thing about this hotel is the location. It is just a short walk from tianemen square and Wangfunjian street is just to the side of it so there is great shopping and interesting food stalls. The hotel, on the other hand, was worn and didn't appear especially a clean. There was mildew under the sink rim, and the toilet didn't flush well. The room was dark and gray, sort of a holdover from the days of Mao. laundry charges were like those in a NYC hotel. Did have a couple of adequate restaurants.

We've been staying here for years and always enjoy the hotel. The staff have always been friendly and continue to be. Check out was a bit of a nightmare though and took 25 minutes, at 5:45am. The breakfast is plentiful but doesn't have a great deal of quality, especially with the hot options. The rooms are quite spacious and there's plenty of storage to unpack for a week.
The location is right next to Wanfujing Street, which is good if you like shopping.
We don't, so being close to many other features and the subway is more attractive. The Forbidden CIty and Tiananmen Square are only a couple of blocks away. The Temple of Heaven is close for a morning run and Tai Chi. There are many old areas in the neighbourhood which are worth exploring.
A comfortable hotel in a great location.

I realized that there are some places for package tourists and others for individual tourists.
The hall is big and beautiful, breakfast was poor considering to a 5 star-hotel and separated from the other guests who were not in a tour, the room was very spacious, bathroom was clean, but we had a problem with the toilet, but staff was kind and we had that fixed.
Location was good and there is a little street where you can purchase from souveniers to exotic food like scorpions: very nice and different!
What made me decide to rate this hotel as average was the fact that I didn't feel like I was in a 5 star hotel as they say since we were mostly separated from the other individual guests and room and food seemed to be of a lower quality. I thought that very strange and rare.
