This isn't the nicest hostel in the world, but it feels like...a hostel. It's cheap enough, has hot water and good water pressure (and the shower actually drains, always a plus). Big bottles of Tsingtao for 5 rmb. I know there are people out there who care about this detail.
The breakfast was good (includes a free coffee! or tea/juice. if you're into that sort of thing) and cheap. Location is great too--not too far from the metro and from lots of nice hutongs with food and shopping, plus you're right in the middle of everything you want to see as a tourist.
The only negative thing about this place is a problem that's not unique to a hostel/hotel in China: the staff are very very loud in the morning. There are no inside voices and you can count on being woken up before you're prepared to be.
