Stayed here for 4 nights in a wedding suite. Loved the room. Perfectly clean and neat decor. Staff was wonderful. Breakfast was wonderful. Always felt very safe in the alley, even at night. Subway only a short walk away. (station entrance is sort of hidden, look behind the WuMart & McDonalds). Free computer IN YOUR ROOM! how great is that.
Hidden roof deck, first courtyard, steps at far end. Be aware that taxies don't go up the alley, which is about 4 blocks long with the hotel in the center. Taxies will have to drop you off at one end or the other of the street. Easy except when you have your luggage, or if you have problems walking. Thanks to Trip Advisor for helping me find this hotel.

Room Tip: Wedding suites are neat, & memorable

All things ok. We had a very interesting and lovley holiday in Peking. The Double Happiness hotel is a part of silence in the big city of Peking. Here you can rest and find new energy for al the importend things you can see.

If you're looking for a unique China experience with lots of local color and character, this is the place. Great atmosphere, excellent service from a friendly and efficient staff, and central location.

It's located along a narrow alley, so be prepared to walk some and don't be surprised if taxis refuse to take you at doorstep, especially on rainy days. The nearest subway station is about 10 minutes away, from where you can reach most destinations in the city.

Rooms were smallish but comfortable and appropriately decorated/furnished. The central courtyard and fountain added to the pleasant atmosphere.

Breakfast buffet was ok, though perhaps the presentation could emphasize quality over quantity. The lounge/bar is well-appointed though pricey for the area, I think. There are many interesting food places nearby if you're adventurous enough.

Only snag was that I wanted to settle in USD, but the machine kept converting it to our local currency (PHP). The hotel staff were always friendly and helpful.

Highly recommended.

Room Tip: wedding quite w/ private courtyard

We checked in here for a week long stay we arrived at around 3 am and were still welcomed warmly by a sleepy receptionist. She asked if we were hungry and told us where to find food.

The hotel is in a back ally and if your looking for somewhere in the tourist areas this hotel is not for you its not western its traditional Chinese. You get breakfast every morning where you can talk with other guests and get their experiences.

The girls on reception make this place they make you feel so welcome when you come in and their English is excellent and they recommended tours and which ones we should go on and it seemed that they had been on the tours. On of the girls actually took us on a hike of the great wall on her day off because she liked to hike. This made our great wall experience something else we were the only people on that section.

If there is a room available here then you would be insane not to take it!

Truly a gem of a hotel not far from Forbidden City in Beijing. Great rooms and a very frendly staff who can organize anything makes for a relaxing and wonderful stay.

You will never find such a real Chinese hotel in Pekin. But with highest level of everything in it! It is located close to the center but in a very interesting area of hutongs. There are shops and small restaurants in the closest street where you can always get a taxi easily. It's not your choice only if you prefer modern interiors and modern center around. Which is not a case when you come to Pekin...

Really enjoyed our four night stay here. It has a great location, is situated down a rabbit warren but once in through its gates opens up into and oasis of calm. The rooms are great, feeling authentic and not twee at all. The best bit was the staff, especially the sweetly cheeky Susan! They went out of their way to help us and made our stay there all the more enjoyable.
