Everything about the J.W. Marriott in Beijing is simply superb. First, the hotel is in a great location in Beijing, with the convenient walking access to the Beijing Metro and an upscale shopping center. When you first walk into the gorgeous hotel, your are met by dozens of smiling faces waiting to greet you and make your check in process as painless as possible.

When I stayed here, I was upgraded to an executive suite, which was both amazingly spacious and decadently appointed. From small details such as the TV embedded into the bathtub wall, to the super comfortable bedding, the room was one of the nicer ones I have ever stayed at any Marriott property around the world.

I had access to the executive floor lounge, which was an amazing place to grab a cup of coffee and breakfast in the morning as well as grab a light snack and a drink at night. The food at the executive lounge was really well prepared and there was a far more vast selection than there typically is at Marriott executive lounges. The liquor was open bar but still top shelf – a highlight being the Hennessy cognac. I even had dinner once at the lounge and it really was quite tasty.

If you are ever planning a trip to Beijing and have the chance to stay at the JW Marriott, go for it. You will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: The executive suite is incredibly spacious and even has an really elegant foyer entryway.

We had a four night stay there in May and the hotel staff was amazing! We received an upgrade to the Executive floor and were able to have breakfast at the restaurant and snacks at the lounge. The buffet restaurant, Asia Bistro, had an amazing selection of food that one can possibly imagine! I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is in a very hip and pricey part of the city. The hotel is a great location for both business and vacation. The metro is easily accessible from the hotel property and there are several good restaurants in walking distance. The breakfast buffet is terrific but pricey and too much food. The bedroom itself was similar to any Marriott hotel room in the US - clean, comfortable and basic decor. The lobby bar is fun and offers good snack choices and tea. I am having trouble providing a lot of detail in this review because the room was so standard. Nothing special but nothing wrong either. Overall, a good safe choice with western amenities when visiting Beijing.

Beijing isn't one of my favorite places - the air pollution is actually scary it's so bad. If I *have* to go, I'm glad to have a place like this.

Bed is terrific, with the widest array of pillow-choices I've ever had. TV was large, with a nice variety of channels for a US-business traveler. Immaculate housekeeping, and well appointed room. Bathroom has a window, which is initially weird and yet opens the room up - and there are blinds for privacy if needed. Shower was awesome.

When in China, I don't drink tap water - or even use it to brush my teeth. Marriott provided and replenished free bottles of their own filtered water, for which I was thankful.

Breakfast was very nice. I was there in very early October - if they have the same guy making omelette's, you must get one. Try it and see - very well done.

Laundry service was excellent.

If you can avoid a taxi in China, do so. Instead, if you can afford it, get a hotel car - and tell the driver "no breakdown lane." The staff all speak English and will let him know. Otherwise you have a good chance of doing over 140kph in the breakdown lane, in a poorly maintained taxi. The hotel car is much, much safer. Audi A6, BMW 5Li - all of them are "stretch" models and very comfortable. About $100 one-way from/to the airport, which is about an hour away.

If you haven't seen it: It costs about $300 round trip to the Great Wall, and that includes them helping you get tickets and waiting while you do your 2.5 or 3 hour climb/shop. That's a 1.5 hour one way distance, so it's really a pretty good deal when you think about it. Plus the drive there is scenic at times.

The hotel across the street is where you must eat. The basement is loaded with affordable options, while the top floor is loaded with higher end (but still very affordable) great options. You can easily eat a great meal there for under $30 (about 200 RMB), including a beer.

Note: there is a Western grocery store in the basement of the mall. Lots of signs in English, and the best prices you'll find nearby for staples if you want them. Plus, it's kind of fun to see...

The metro/subway is right there, too.

Frankly, I like the JW better than the Ritz next store, which is also a Marriott. The lobby, alone, makes the JW special.

World Class hotel. If you have to go to Beijing and this is anywhere near where you are working, I strongly recommend it.

Stayed here with partner and friends on a side trip from Hong Kong to visit the Great Wall - we stayed in March for 4 nights. What a fabulous hotel. Having previously worked for Marriott and stayed in many of them I knew what I was in for, but this JW somehow seemed that bit better than rest. The service was flawless and everyone we encountered went out of their way to assist us. We ended up taking a private driver from the hotel who drove us out to the Great Wall for the day. This was a cost effective option shared amongst the 4 of us. We also opted for an upgrade to the club floor (offered at check in). Again considering the breakfast and evening drinks and canapés included in the price in the Club Lounge, it was a no brainer to decline.
The hotel was exceptionally clean, the rooms spacious and comfortable and we dined in the restaurant for my husband's birthday and they made a special dessert for him. Would definitely recommend to any person travelling to Beijing for business or leisure.

I stayed at this hotel for one night on business in September and found it to be a very pleasant experience.

Reception: A fast and efficient service, staff welcoming and very pleasant. Plenty of bell hops on hand to help with the luggage

Room: Modern and in good condition. Clean and very comfortable beds (you can’t beat a Marriott bed!). Large flat screen TV, DVD player and plenty of cables to connect your own devices.

Bathroom: Finished to a high standard with a large bath and large separate shower. There is a big window that faces into the bedroom so you can shower and see right outside. It does have a blind though if you prefer a bit of privacy. Bath has a flat screen TV bolted on the wall so you can relax with some TV whilst in the tub! Good quality amenities and towels large and fluffy.

Minibar: Well stocked with plenty of choice. Complimentary tea and coffee in the room.

WIFI: Free Wi-Fi available in the room and in the public areas of the hotel

Restaurants: Excellent quality restaurants and bars, very good service and attention to detail

Gym and Spa: Modern well equipped gym with running, cross trainers, bikes and loose weights. There is also a small studio as well as a large swimming pool and high end spa.

Staff: Competent and efficient, focused on Customer Service. No problems on this trip.

Transport: Limos are available from the hotel to pick you up at the airport. Traffic is quite bad and it can take about 45 mins to get to the hotel from Beijing Capital airport.

Local Information: A large mall opposite the hotel with high end shops. Lots of restaurants located in the vicinity, including Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese. There is also a Starbucks just across the street and the hotel is very close to the subway, where you can go a couple of stops to the silk market if you like shopping for a few bargains. There is a 7-Eleven just around the corner.
