i have been going to the jw marriott near shin kong place ever since it opened almost 2.5 years ago... and, it is only getting better... the location is a 5 min walk to the number 1 metro line... from here, you can get just about anywhere on 2rmb (30 cents) on way...

the rooms are clean and spacious for business travelers... booking your room with access to the executive level, gets you a free breakfast (just about anything you desire) and happy hour... definitely worth the extra money...

if you are looking for a good burger, cru restaurant serves one of the best in beijing...

beware, as do all the jw marriotts, internet is not free..! unless you are in the executive lounge...

the spa and pool area are not to be missed...! heated stone seats..!

Our overall experience at this hotel was exceptional. Most all of the staff we encountered was attentive and spoke great english. Rooms and bathrooms are large, and well taken care of. All of the facilities in this hotel (rooms, gym, pool, bar) feel like they are brand new. The surrounding area is great, many upscale shops and resturants.

Concierge Lounge was excellent. The largest selection of food and beverages I've seen at any hotel lounge, was on the top floor and offered great views of the city.

My only 2 complaints:
1. Ice: There are no ice machines, the only way to obtain ice is to call house keeping and for me it took 30 minuites and 3 calls for 1 bucket of ice.
2. Internet: Internet is expensive, very slow, and it can only be purchased by going down stairs and purchasing an internet card. Slightly inconvenient. HINT: Do this before you go upstairs and try yo connect to the WIFI.

This is one of the few western stlye hotels that I would recomend to friends and collegues. It offers exceptional value and great service.

The personnel at check-in and concierge is terrible, I believe the worse at a Marriott ever! (I am not the only one faced that behave but all others in fornt of me!)
But all the rest is very nice. Very modern, very clean and spacious rooms, very good service at the restaurant, cafe and the bar. Location is very good as well. I recommend this hotel and I reccomend you to complain if (most probably you will!) you face a rude behave at the reception and the concierge directly to Marriott. All the rest is very good.

The JW Marriott in Beijing was a fantastic experience. Service was friendly, but not the best I've had in equivalent 5-star hotels. However, I give the concierge credit for being helpful and patient with us through our many, many requests.

The rooms were nice, clean and modern. The executive lounge was one of the highlights of the trip. It had a wide variety of food for breakfast, high tea, evening cocktail hour and also evening dessert! During breakfast, in addition to the buffet spread, eggs can be ordered (made to order).

The hotel is located next to and across the street from two huge luxury malls. We loved that because those malls also contained a huge variety of options to eat at. Both restaurants and a very high-end food court, and also a grocery store! Helped provide more food options at a very reasonable (cheap) price.

Aside from the malls, it was a 15 minute taxi ride to Tienamen Square/Forbidden City. It is a taxi ride to any other locations as well, but convenient enough.

I used the pool and gym, which is part of a spa that is shared with the Ritz. BEAUTIFUL spa, by the way. Free use of the pool, includes access to a very nice hot tub, sauna and steam room. This was by far, one of the nicest pool/gym facilities I used. I didn't try spa services, but they looked nice as well.

We also booked several tours through the hotel as well, and were very happy with the service of the tour company they use.

All in all, an excellent hotel!
