Booked a table for two 2 days ahead for 6 pm on a Sunday in June. Arrived to find there was no table inside the restaurant and was ushered to the terrace on the 1st floor instead. Was a bit apprehensive of possible heat and/or thunderstorms because there was no air-conditioning and no cover whatsoever. But it turned out to be a great place. Was airy while the inside was so crowded and stuffy. Couldn't congratulate myself more on this good fortune.

Food was tasty and inexpensive. The waitress was considerate enough to warn me that all the dishes I ordered were on the sweet side and they proved to be so.

Loved the place.

Always nice to visit this restaurant. I have been here several times and was never disappointed by the food. All original Chinese dishes in fantastic quality and a great atmosphere with inner court and several parrots. As a non-Chinese watch what you order, it may turn out strange or pretty hot, so take your time. Staff is very friendly but doesn't speak much English, still easy to order dishes with images and English text.

We were passing by this restaurant and decided to try it out (they have a sign in Chinese outside, so had to Google the name). Inside, the staff was very accommodating and friendly. Even though they didn't know much English, they made every effort to communicate with us, and showed us to a table. Very warm service. The ambience here is very nice. They served us hot lemon water, because most of their food can get rather oily (and that's not a bad thing at all here!). The menu is in Chinese and English, with illustrations, so easy to understand. We ordered Deep-fried Peppers with Beef, Sauteed Chicken with Chilly and Onions, Fried Noodles with Pork and Deep-fried Duck with Peanuts. Suffice to say, all the dishes were excellent! Especially the chicken. The prices were also really affordable - less than 200 RMB for the whole meal. The portions were also quite big and it was a happy effort for three of us to finish the whole meal. Truly this meal was a highlight of our Beijing trip. I'd definitely recommend it to all foodies out there!

This is traditional Chinese dining in the style one of the Emperors preferred (read the English article in the lobby for more detail). Waitress Shiu Shiu is very professional and helpful on the balcony. Recipes are all extremely well prepared and the kitchen is clean. The building & ambiance is also traditional with zero tourist kitsch. Expect to wait. The king prawn is awesome. Start with lotus root to balance fats vs acidity. Boletus and gourd was fantastic too. I tried the prized Emperors sharkfin soup and it's exactly as described, complex delicious but not for everyone - starches dull the complexity for me. Waitstaff is awesome and professional. Don't expect any English or a welcome mat but they are professionally welcoming. It's ok to eat alone.
