Perhaps the profile photos have changed since this summer when a reviewer complained that the picture wasn't representative; in any case it is exactly as pictured.
After two weeks staying in a variety of less than perfect guest houses and hotels in China, this inn was a gem. Beautifully and faithfully renovated, the architecture of this courtyard house is reason enough to come; and the central courtyard with comfy chairs, a peaceful place to drink tea and admire it. The room was wood-panelled, with a gorgeously decorated bathroom. The window was small, as per traditional architecture, so keep the place dark and cool in summer - made it very cosy in December. This kind of Chinese courtyard building is not ideal for noise when a hotel - all rooms open onto the central courtyard so sound travels - so earplugs a good idea for light sleepers.
Staff were very helpful and egg noodle breakfast delicious
