“A "Dam" beautiful building”
Reviewed 9 May 2012

The Chongqing museum and Three Gorges museum are now in the same building. It is a beautiful building and looks a bit like the Three Gorges Dam. Chongqing is not an international tourist destination, so the museum does not have much English - unfortunately for me. The section on the construction of the dam was interesting. It was rather difficult to stay long to study the museum exhibits because the aircon was not cold enough.

“Hardly worth the visit.”
Reviewed 24 April 2012

Not much to say except that it's a collection of photos and a large mural that shows the devastation caused by the dam.

“Best Overview of Three Gorges”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

If you are in Chongqing for a Three Gorges cruise, I highly recommend you start here. Entrance is free, and the displays and especially the scale model are MUCH better than at the Three Gorges Dam Visitors Center. Two hours is enough for most people.

“A basic (yet nice) museum.”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

We were surprised to realize that entrance to this museum was free of charge, which is quite rare in China.
Having said that, the museum gives very basic information regarding the Three Gorges dam. It somehow minimizes the actual impact this project had on mother nature.
It includes a blurry 360 degres movie (in Chinese, of course...), which include many scenec shots of the river and its gorges.
It's an OK 30-minute visit, just don't expect too much.

“Educational”
Reviewed 25 March 2012

It was well worth the visit, it is free entry and if you want to learn about Chongqing's past and its link to the Yangtze river this is the place to go, 2 hours was not enough.
