It is a nice hotel .....spacious modern and impeccably maintained. the lobby has a grand entry ... The rooms are large which is typical in China for five star hotels. The toilets are nicely done and are luxurious. The rooms are well furnished but the lighting system is a bit arcane...takes time to figure out ...I could never light up the entry foyer of room. As it is a tall hotel it offers nice views of the city from upper floors. ... The breakfast buffet has got a fabulous spread both for Asian and western choices. The hotel also has very nice restaurants. I particularly loved the German restaurant they have near the lobby which has live Western music. The musicians were great. Staff is very polite in restaurants and English language is not a problem at all throughout the hotel.

We stayed for 3 weeks at a stretch, me personally for 2 and amazingly did not find anything to be grouchy for. Welcoming me was a personal truly handwritten note from the very gracious GM. I was sold - I mean in today's world - who does that! then the overflowing fruit basket; high end toiletries; abundance of high quality soft towels of all shapes and sizes, sizable rooms with amazing bed and pillow choices; and smart young smiling service. Spacious luxurious sparkling clean with abundance of facilities within and 2-5 mins walking distance around, excellent meal choices, shopping center and in house salon - I do not want to go back !!! The executive lounge on the 31st is divine - regret that they do not have an executive kitchen there - would have been more time convenient for breakfast in the morning.. And Mr. GM (I purposely do not name you) - a very heartfelt - thank you for your personal care and hospitality.

The city of Chongqin is well placed in almost the centre of China and is often quoted as one of the biggest cities in China, if not the world. In the midst of this huge place there is actually lots of history to view and once you have completed your tours then the Kempinski is a wonderful retreat to relax in.
Location is fine, not city centre, but that can be a blessing as the city was very busy! Its only a short drive to the main city, but if you need to shop then there are plenty of other options only 5 or 7 min drive away. Talk to the wonderful concierge team who will help you with every request.
The overall service was friendly and the facility are pretty good. My bed was super comfortable and the room excellent. The business lounge / executive floor is well worth the extra money being able to sit calmly and enjoy the breakfast, cocktails or just a tea overlooking the city views. The gym / spa is wonderful, with a lovely pool and a gym facility that has most tools to get you fit or help you loose all the pounds from the excellent local Hotpot or the beers in the German pub!
I look forward to returning and exploring more.

Room Tip: Make sure you choose the Executive floor.

The Kempinski in Chongqing offers real 5 Star service just in the city center. I had a comfortable and nice room with free WiFi and stayed in the hotel just for one night from Oct. 15th to 16th. A rich and delicious breakfast was served in their restaurant on the 2nd floor. Although I was in a hurry I did enjoy it. The hotel has the same excellent standard as the Kempinski in Beijing.
