“Not for foreigners”
Reviewed 12 June 2013

We were booked in for one night by our package tour company at the end of a Yangtze cruise. They must have negotiated a bargain rate! The room was large and clean, however from our point of view, apart from walking in the park , this hotel is too far from city attractions.
There was heavy rain and it was excessively humid, but the hotel air con (if it worked at all) was not able to be controlled from the room(except fan speed)..the room was oppressive..the balcony door needed to be open, with accompanying insects and rain.
This hotel does not cater to the international market...we found no staff who spoke English sufficiently well enough to answer basic questions..and the myriad of TV channels available did not include an English speaking channel. The breakfast catered to the local traveller, and was scantly supplied...at 8.30am on a Sunday breakfast 7 till 10), all fruit juice was exhausted, fruit had largely been consumed and not replaced, the coffee was appalling and the four slice toaster only worked in two slots and one of those only on one side. Despite the adequate number of staff there was no inclination to refresh breafast supplies, even for the local clientelle. Fawlty towers would be a fair description.

The hotel was very nice and we would stay there again if in this city. The buffet breakfast was included and was better than average. Not sure if breakfast is included for all stays or not. No complaints. Room and bathroom were fine. I would say this was a 4-star hotel. We were in China for a tour that originally passed through Chongqing without an overnight stay however we indicated that we would like to stay there 1 night and continue the tour the next day, which we did. We added this hotel. The hotel borders Eling Park. We did not get back to our hotel until after dark that day so we did not see much of the park but we did go to a viewpoint inside the park – 2 night photos attached. 1 photo of our room is included. Some hotels in China do not allow foreign persons to stay overnight, which we encountered in 3 different cities when making some of own arrangements as we had planned to arrive several days before the tour started to do some site seeing and travel on our own.

Room Tip: There was no bad, busy, or noisy sides of the hotel. It does border a large park. It is possible the...

We can be away from the noise and the bad air of the Chinese city. The room is large enough. The internet and mobile phone are well worked.
But at the breakfast, the flavor of the coffee and the breads are no good. The coffee contains much sugar and the bread is too soft and sweet.

Room Tip: You had better to take the park-side room over 4th floor.

End of April 2012 we had one night's stay at this hotel.

Big rooms!
Good Breakfast where you can sit outside looking directly into the Ehling park. Birds singing and just plain relaxing.
On the top of the hill and away from the city noise.
Close to the Metro (even though you don't see at first).

Only Minus' are 1) smoking and 2) check-in service:
1) We did not specify that we wanted non-smoking rooms and so we got a room where guest had been smoking. It was not overly bad, but there was a small scent in the curtains.

The hotel have an entire non-smoking floor.

2) The check-in was typically Chinese - two people running around like headless chickens, totally confused about seeing westerners. They couldn't find our reservation and suggested that we book a new room, even though we had prepaid. After a quick call to our agent they found our reservation at the very top of their computer screen!!!

Oh well, traveling in China you have to learn to relax in these situations, this happens ALL the time.

This was probably one of the better 3 star hotels we stayed in , in Chongqing.

Rooms were spacious and comfortable with stone floors and a mock fireplace for aesthetics with an LCD TV above it; it also had a little balcony overlooking the Ehling Park. There is a wet market just a few metres down the road from the hotel which opens only in the morning where the locals would buy their fruits and vegetables.
As mentioned in other posts, the bathroom has windows looking into the bedroom which may be romantic for couples but rather inconvenient for roommates who are not keen or used to anyone watching them take a shower. But that is easily solved by lowering the window screen in the bathroom.

The buffet breakfast was probably the best we had of all the 3-4 star hotels we were put up by the agent. It had a good selection and choice of western and chinese dishes.

The location is somewhat away form the center of action so I would probably not choose this hotel if I return to Chongqing but would choose somewhere in the city eg Harbour Plaza for convenience and location.

This smart 88 room hotel is built on a hill within Ehling Park, where you can watch local people doing Tai- Chi in the morning. Guest rooms are large and pleasant, with stone floors and a glass window between the bedroom and bathroom, and a glass shower cubicle so you can watch your partner showering. However do avoid the rooms at the end of the corridor above the kitchen or you will be assailed by cooking smells at 5.00 am. A kettle and tea bags are provided but if you prefer coffee you would be well-advised to bring a jar of your favourite brand to China with you. Do avoid the spa, which is geared to the particular requirements of Chinese businessmen. There is a decent Cantonese restaurant on the ground floor, and breakfast with Chinese and Western choices is served on the 4th floor between 7.00 and 10.00am.

Jiefangbei District, with its glassy modern tower blocks and pedestrian-only square, is the main commercial centre, a 20 yuan (US$ 3) taxi drive away. The sprawling city looks best at night so do try and catch a boat trip along the Yangzi to see the illuminated city.

Glass screen between bedroom and bathroom - bizarre! Hotel is set on a hill outside the main city area. Right next door to Erlin Park, which is a lovely place to walk round and for views over the city.
