Hotel Bonaparte by Rhombus
Ranked #507 of 723 Hotels in Hong Kong
Reviewed 19 July 2014

The accommodation arrangements had been made in Australia by Flight Centre. Arrangements- lot to be desired. Very disappointed with the so called travel experts.

Location of hotel excellent.
Servicing of room excellent
Reception lot to be desired - require people skills
Some staff excellent
Booked two rooms for five people - 4 adults and a six year old.
Not enough room - one adult had to sleep on the floor. Room very small to accommodate another bed.
Room size approximately 5 metres by 3 metres'
Shower cubicle is see through glass so ask for curtain. Discovered this several days later after I wanted to change hotel
You are not advised of facilities available in the hotel- discovered this after talking to a cleaning staff.
Because of the location I would stay in the hotel again only this time I know what to expect and will be prepared.
Do not use the hotels laundry facilities -very expensive- Have you laundry done at the laundrymat about 4 minute walk time from the hotel

If these concerns are addressed a v good hotel - I did not pay budget prices

Room Tip: Doint expect a lot

My friend recommended me to stay in Bonaparte hotel during my business trip in HK. Small hotel in a place between Wanchai and Causeway bay and it really closed to my HK local office in Times Square. A manager Vincent do the check in for me & my partner in professional way and they escorted us to the room. Room on the high floor 23/F with trendy design. Staff introcduced the in room facilities to us. All the things you need are well compacted in the room. Also they borrowed a cellphone to us which we call the local number FOC. The bathroom is with transparent glass so they have to install the curtain for us coz it is embarrassing if one in the toilet. It is the 1st time for us to come to HK, we asked many questions in reception and Vincent answered us in detail and patience.
Our local office in Times Square and it also a big shopping mall in HK. Lei Garden chinese restaurant is good and there are many different restaurants in the mall. Times Square is so closed to the hotel, just 5 mins on walk - cross a local market behind the hotel then you will reach it. Also subway station and Ding Ding tram is closed to hotel too.
I think this hotel is good for business trip & shopping in a good location.

Room Tip: Ask for the higher floor if possible coz the hotel is facing a road

I've stayed in enough hotels in the last 2 months to be able to tell the moment you walk on whether a hotel is well run. This is not. Staff way too serious for you to enjoy your stay or feel welcome. Seems there's rules for everything. Signs everywhere. Staff constantry seem busy. Checkin took longer than it did to clear passport control and customs at airport. They want $800 deposit. The most of any hotel I've stayed in. Lifts take forever. Charge for wifi. At a boutique hotel. In 2014???
Rooms smell like musty cupboard. Had to move from one impossibly stinky to another "quite" musty one. Can't open windows to get fresh air. No applogy. Woke up feeling ill. Took 15 minutes to check out, where they were comparing my signatures before returning my deposit. Never a hello. Thank you or apology at any time. Hated staying here. Checked out after 1 night. Do yourself a favour. Stay somewhere else.

Stayed in Hotel Pennington for 3 night and recommended to their sister hotel - Hotel Bonaparte due to Pennington was full that we cannot extend the stay. I agreed with some visitor's comment that it is not that easy to find the hotel because hotel itself is quite narrow. Hotel next to one jewellery shop which help to locate the hotel. Also hotel is behind the famous shopping mall - Times Square. Lobby design is trendy. We booked two normal room but it was too tiny so we paid few hundred to upgrade to the deluxe rooms. Room with Ok size (around 150 sq.ft) but the bathroom/toilet with transparent glass is a problem. So they help to install the curtain. Room is clear, mattress is comfortable. A duty manager Kit is helpful and friendly. Since we had the late flight, so luggages were kept till 20:00 and it was charged hk$30 each. There are many small restaurant in the area that good to try.

Don't be fooled by the images online of this hotel, it's an absolute rip off however cheap you get a room for.
The rooms are not even box room size, there is no storage space for luggage. I had to leave my small case on the window ledge to avoid tripping over it in the night.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms in this hotel

My husband and I had 3 nights at the Bonaparte and were delighted by the cleanliness and very efficient use of space in our room. Yes it is a small room, but it has all the amenities you would expect in a boutique hotel, at a quite reasonable price and in a terrific location near times square. There is easy access to all types of transport, bus, tram and train and wonderful resturants and shops very close.

Room Tip: Book early to get a fine discount

Nice place. Well located. They had pretty good cafe on the first place but now there is some shop located. What is most disappointing is that Air cone didn't warm the room and it was really COLD there. I had to buy personal warmer just for 1 week business trip. Rooms are too small (well what you expected from Hong-Kong) but all is clean.
