“Amazing!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 August 2011

The W Hotel is an absolutely amazing place!
The staff are very helpful and there was always someone on hand to provide advice. The room was excellently designed with some fun additions (pre-set lighting to suit certain times of day, a back lit mirror in the bathroom, soaker tub with built in tv). The pool on the 76th floor affords amazing views of the harbour and Hong Kong island.

Built right above the Elements Mall (and Kwoloon Airport Express MTR station) this hotel is incredibly convenient (especially if you are departing for the airport in the morning).
The food at Kitchen restaurant was excellent, however the atmosphere was a bit lacking. Be prepared for lots of kids if you're going to eat there.

Overall and amazing experience.

I regularly travel to Hong Kong for work and always try to stay at the W. The amenities are fantastic and the rooms have good views of the harbour. Additionally the bar has some special wine/cheese-tasting nights which are super affordable and fun. The staff at the W are always helpful and friendly and i've never had a problem at check-in. Its always fast and efficient.

The pool is a definite highlight of the hotel where its on the top of the building. great views and lots of sun( when its not smoggy ).

The location of the W is inside the Elements mall which has tons of shopping and different restaurants to try.

The only downside of the W is that its on the Kowloon side; if you're accustomed to being on the main-land, there is the subway right below the hotel where you can take it one stop over into HK island. On the other hand, if you want to see the REAL hong kong, kowloon is the place to be.

Stayed 3 nights. This hotel is amazing! Conveniently located above Kowloon Station on the express airport/city train route, and within the up-market Elements shopping centre, and nearby Tsim Sha Choi – hotel shuttle (ie Ocean Terminal and Nathan Road shops). We upgraded to a waterview (western aspect) and 36th Floor – stunning unimpeded view and the room and fit-out was superb. The service and staff were impeccable. As swimmers, we were amazed and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor pool – situated on the 76th Floor (with work-out gym one floor below) and perched along the eastern edge of the building with spectacular views N, E & S over HKG and the harbour and neighbouring islands – an experience definitely not to be missed.

Recently I have been disappointed with W chain - many of the hotels just do not have the wow factor (aka W Hollywood).
The W Hong Kong puts the brand back on the map. The rooms are stunning with amazing views of the harbor (even if to the side). Throughout the hotel and the corridors are great style touches that really set it apart.
Location - right above the Kowloon station so very easy ride from the station. Shopping centre below the hotel - I understand the concerns raised about location to Nathan Road but it is easy and cheap to take taxis or MTR.
Bar on Friday night was busy with young locals

Stayed here for work for two nights. Hotel service and comfort was great ... although the room design was a bit too busy for me. Breakfast was delicious and the bar at night was fun. Cool buzzy hotel with attitude too match (fun respectable attitude) ... pity it was not on the island!

Perhaps the most over-designed space I've ever been in. The ground level entry with the huge backlit 'W,' giant stylized tree trunk and horse sculpture made out of speakers is is cool, but from the minute you step on the video-screened floor of the the elevator to get to the reception level, things start to go a bit crazy. There's simply too much going on everywhere you look. The design concepts are completely disconnected and it's a shame because some of the elements are rather interesting. Reception was very friendly and efficient. The hallway to the guest rooms was great and had a sort of Alice in Wonderland feel, kitted out like a private library shelved with various books and personal items all sculpted in white. (Good luck finding the elevator call button which is hidden in the design.) The room was spacious and fairly cool with sliding walls that could be moved around for heightened bathroom privacy. The bathroom was large with separate bath, shower and toilet areas. Like the rest of the hotel, there was a bit too much going on in the room design-wise, but it was nowhere near as disjointed as the public spaces. The room had a nice view of the harbor, but don't expect the the postcard picture; this hotel is nowhere near the iconic waterfront of Hong Kong. In fact it's not near very much you'll want to see as a tourist (except the rather outstanding mall that it's attached to) but it's only about a twenty minute walk to the ferry. The rooftop pool is a highlight of this hotel. The view is mostly blocked by the neighboring buildings, as is the sun after about 1PM, but if you go early it's a great place to hang out and recharge. The giant wall mosaic is a standout design feature of the hotel and reiterates the 'down the rabbit hole' theme of the hallways. Overall we enjoyed our stay here, but next time I'd opt for a better located hotel that's not trying so hard to prove something.

Stayed at W Hong Kong in Feb 2011 when the nearby area was undergoing major renovations.

Location
Literally above the Kowloon station, very easy access from/to the airport and to the Island. If you like to walk like myself, the location exposes challenges - due to the construction going on around it's not easily accessible. The hotel provides a shuttle service to Tsim Sha Tsui luckily.

The rooms
The rooms sport floor to ceiling windows around the marina area. The densily lighted Island looks fabulous in the evenings. The rooms we stayed in were modern, very clean and spacious with a lot of excellent details with regards to lighting, ipod connectors, music facilities and gadgets - the bathroom was also lovely. The shower tap felt slightly hard to operate and could perhaps pose a problem for the elderly.
Having said that, we experienced a disagreeable smell - something I would describe as "moth poison" - in our first room. Front desk staff took our issues very seriously and changed our rooms the second night however the same particular smell prevailed.

The bar
Fantastic furniture, decoration and a wow ceiling. *Excellent* drinks. Five o'clock tea definitely worth a shot, too.

The pool
Breathtaking experience at the outdoor W pool on the 76th floor. Wonderful views from the 28 C heated pool! Would benefit from changing rooms

Overall
Excellent hotel and facilities. The room scent was however an issue and the location was not ideal for our trip.
