The W Hong Kong has everything you expect from W hotels worldwide. It's swanky with a clubby feel in the lobby and lounge areas, but your room is a nice escape from all of that when you want it. The W Hong Kong is connected to a nice shopping mall that is convenient for restaurants and shopping. Perhaps the most praiseworthy aspect of the W Hong Kong compared to other W experiences I've had is the courteous attitude of the staff. After checkin, we realized that we forgot our iPhone chargers; the staff had one on hand and immediately lent it to us. Also, our checkout day was my travel companion's birthday. The hotel manager took note of this and had a box of chocolates and personally signed card waiting at the reception...a very nice touch. We left feeling very welcomed and satisfied.

I have stayed in Starwood properties before but this was my first time in a W. It was excellent throughout and if you’re looking for a location in Hong Kong that is modern, stylish, welcoming and offers everything you would expect, then this is an excellent choice for your stay.

I was travelling with two colleagues on business and we all agreed it was superb throughout. If and when I return to HK, I would not hesistate to rebook and I think that’s about as good a recommendation as I could make.

Briefly, and in case you don’t know Hong Kong – I didn’t - the hotel is actually in Kowloon. This is not a problem in any way, as you can be on HK island within a few minutes in a cab for about £9, get a cab to the Star Ferry and go that way – 30p for the ferry ride, about £4 for the cab there – or take the MTR (which we didn’t do, so no idea how much that costs). It is also well connected for getting to Nathan Road where all the ‘main’ shops are (on Nathan road you should prepare to get hassled by people selling moody watches and trying to get you into massage parlours if you’re a man ). It is also right on top of a ‘premium’ shopping centre which offers a food court, premium brands (Louis V, Gucci, Tiffany, Rolex etc) and access to the ICC building which, let me tell you, is a must-do whilst in HK for the views alone.

Anyway back to the W. We booked standard 35sq/m rooms and got two with views facing the ICC, and one facing out to sea. They are more than good enough for several days – do not be put off by the size – and contain desk, sofa, huge bed, great rainfall shower, fast wifi, great deep bath. No need to spend any more in my opinion, around $2500HKD per night.

Didn’t use the Spa or the Gym on our visit, but did use the rooftop pool – awesome views again, despite the smog – and the jacuzzi in the mens’ changing room offers 8 foot windows with a view of the city. The hotel also has a great bar area that serves snacks, alcoholic and soft drinks and is a great place to spend some time. Mini burgers were great.

And so to the thing that makes most hotels work or not. The staff. They are exceptional in every respect. Doormen who cannot help enough, concierges with an excellent knowledge of the city, friendly receptionists who will even charge your phone whilst you’re having a drink, efficient quiet room attendants … need I go on?

So what are you still reading this review for? Go book it and save yourself any more hunting. You won’t regret it.

I am not typically a fan of the staff at W Hotels, but I have always enjoyed the facilities. In this case them came together in harmony. My problem with the W staff is that they are too young to know much about style and comfort. They TRY really hard and often get it wrong. Not the case of the W Hong Kong - they got it right.

The facility is also everything you expect from the W and Hong Kong - style, elegance, sophistication and modern. The rooms are designed like I would like my home with modern touches such as preset lighting schemes (daylight, evening or sleep), automatic room shades, integrated TV and stereo, and of course a heavenly bed.

Next, BREAKFAST Buffet - tremendous variety and quality - ranging from a Hong Kong breakfast to a traditional English breakfast, fresh juices, a cheese bar, fresh baked pastries, hold and cold cereals, and more. During the meal a server brings around a selection of sushi, pastries and other goodies straight from the kitchen.

Finally, you have direct access to the Hong Kong airport with airline check-in and the airport express train located beneath the W Hotel in the Elements shopping center.

TIP: While you can both check in and store bags in the Express Train terminal, if you have a long wait between checkout of the W and checkin for the plane, leave your bags at the hotel and go back in time for the W to give you access to the gym and showers before you leave. I took full advantage of the sauna, a shower and all of the grooming essentials before a 15 hour flight back to San Francisco.

Room Tip: Of course ask for a room of Hong Kong Island.

I stayed in this hotel on business for five days. W pays a lot of attention to details which you feel as soos as your W experience starts. On arrival (if you order the transfer which is not cheap by the way) they put you in Audi Q7 which contains apart from the driver fresh apples, water, mint candies and a great audio tracks selection which comforts you immedialy after a long flight. But for those who travels their for the second time it becomes obvious that you can actually take the airport express train which brings you exactly to the hotel!! So use it if you don't want to spend over 700 HK $ for one-way transfer ) As you arrive to the hotel, the manager greets you and shows the way directly to the room, so I was not even sure where the reception is as I arrived ) The rooms are very well thought through, I especially loved the bathroom (and I'm quit a picky traveller), it is very omfortable and has sliding doors so you can make it a part of the room if you want!! The beds are comfortable, but a bit soft to my taste. You have to figure out the lighting scheme, but at the end of the day there is a couple of key buttons including curtains which you need ) The thing I have to specially mention is, yes, breakfast. Never miss buffet breakfast in W, it is something spectacular - the food selection is wide and everything is very tasty. So if there is a question where to stay in hongkong, definitely go to W. The only drawback i have to mention that the hotel has a shuttle to the heart of Kowloon , but does not have a pick up , so you neeed to get a taxi back.. which is not a big issue but with all their attention to details this is something that standed out as not quite comfortable.

Room Tip: Choose a room with harbor view. The higher the floor, the better the view is on the Honkong Island...

One of the best is not the best W hotels. We always stay at W if it is available in the city we are visiting. This is the best. We had our children with us on the way to and from the Philippines. They treated us all like honored guests. The rooms are elegant and the service is even better. We had breakfast at the hotel and while the service there was a little slow, the food was delicious. This is certainly our Hong Kong hotel from now on.

Room Tip: We got a suite. Well worth it!

Stayed here a few nights over the 2012/2013 new year - let me say this property is AMAZING! With the ONE exception of the WooBar service is great - although, restaurant service is slightly different in Asia in that you need to flag down your server sometimes, but when they arrive, service is pretty good. The Kitchen's buffet breakfast is AMAZING! Uh-MAZING. The pool on the 76th floor overlooking the harbor and island side should not be missed. The spa is awesome - and I might add the locker room with sauna, steam room, crazy Medusa like showers (like 9 shower heads), and recliner whirlpool thingies is free to use. New Years Eve night they threw their own part down in the bar area - the DJs were awesome. Overall I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for something to splurge on. The rooms come equipped with quite the surround sound system (plug in your iPhone and get jamming).

Oh and if you are flying out from HK - there is a check-in desk for all airlines underneath the hotel in the Kowloon station - makes things REALLY easy.

Only cons:
- Poor service at WooBar
- The Ritz/ICC building is the only thing standing in the way of a COMPLETE view of the harbor
- Pretty dang expensive

Pros: LOTS
