I stayed here for a conference in the adjoining HKCEC. The hotel check in was a bit rough as the valet didn't take our names so it took a while for the luggage to get to our rooms and we arrived late so all I wanted to do was shower and go to bed after a 24 hour journey. After that, everything was good. Breakfast buffet is amazing - though pricey if paying for it out of pocket. I had it included in my room. The internet is also not included unless you are a member of their Rewards program but that was free to join.

Really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms - note that construction is still underway so there is some noise during the day - if you need to sleep during the day it's a good idea to request a room on a lower floor.
Room service is excellent - arrives on a rolling table that you can keep in your room and just wheel back out when you're done - perfect - good wuality food and arrives hot.
The staff at this hotel are very helpful and attentive - we would be happy to stay here again.

Room Tip: As at late October 2013 - construction is still underway so there is some noise during the day - if...

I've reviewed this hotel before and also gave it a 5 star rating. To be honest, I running out of superlatives to describe just how well this hotel works and how good the staff are. A friend of me once told me that the most important thing about a hotel is that "it works". I was never quite sure what he meant by that, but having stayed in many hotels which really "don't work" over the years then I've come to appreciate what he meant. From the minute I arrived, to the minute that I left I had the feeling that I was at home, that I was important to the staff and that they cared whether I was happy or not or that I had everything I needed. Bell staff, Check-in, cleaners, breakfast waiters, lounge staff, all the way from the lowest ranked member of staff to the General Manager, everyone had a smile and wanted to know if I needed anything. I love Hong Kong, but I love it even more when I stay at the Renaissance Harbour View. Can't wait to go back again, which will hopefully be at Christmas.

Room Tip: Most rooms have been renovated, but try to ask for one with a view of the harbour, which is just stu...

There are building works going on at this hotel as well as next door near convention centre. The gym is being renovated so you have to walk a very long way to the hotel next door to use their gym which is very inconvenient. Also building works very noisy all day from early morning until well into the evening. Apparently all works will be complete by early 2014. Otherwise a very nice hotel in top location on Hong Kong island away from hustle and bustle of Kowloon, although 10 minute ferry ride to Kowloon is 2 minutes walk from hotel to pier and costs HK$2.50, so very convenient for your shopping. Also good quality restaurants (mainly Italian) and a couple of bars nearby, art galleries, 7-11, coffee shops and bakery as well. Don't need expensive breakfast from hotel. Rooms are very modern, although a bit small. No bathtub. Make sure you upgrade to harbour view room otherwise not much to see. Great views of all the happenings in the harbour. Terrific and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Request harbour view room on upper level. May cost you more but will be worth it - especially if sta...

Centrally located hotel, near the ferry terminal. Loved the huge monsoon showers. Downside was the lack of a bath. Pitiful hairdryer.

Pros : Location. Views (when it wasn't foggy/smoggy). Good service. Monsoon showers.
Cons : Some parts of the hotel smelt of stale smoke. Very busy and disordered reception area. Hailing a cab at the hotel was a nightmare! We waited for a good 20 minutes to get a cab even with the hotel bellboy helping us. Pillows were too soft and there was NO alternative.

Room Tip: Chose a room on a higher floor to enjoy the harbour views.

This was the second time we stayed at this hotel. My experience this time around was much better. The rooms have been refurbished with contemporary design, light wood floors and a modern floor rug. Our bed faced the expansive window with gorgeous views. The design of the room, with a corridor/closets and bathroom separated by a door from the bedroom made the room less cluttered. Although the room was sun filled, the switch by the beds automated the room darkening shades for sleeping in. The bedroom was minimally furnished but not wanting for more.
The lobby was large but not huge, as many conference hotels tend to be. The pool lounge has many shaded areas and a poolside cafe/restaurant with grilled dishes for dining. The Spa was under construction and guests were sent to share the spa at the Hyatt next door.
Though here for a conference, I felt pampered and relaxed to stay in this hotel. The location was central to many of HongKong's attractions.

Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise and better views. Rooms with harbour views are slightly smaller than r...

The central location makes this hotel convenient for conventions and conferences, but otherwise you could do better. For more than US$400 per night I expect the option of espresso coffee at breakfast (not available), my order to be correct (ordered poached eggs, received four waffles) and little lining up (10 minute line to have my room key re validated).
