“Hotel with a great location and service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2010

We had a very enjoyable stay at the hotel.. The rooms were large enough for a family with two kids. We got two adjacent rooms for my parents. The rooms were clean and orderly. The staff were very helpful, accomodating and respectful. We would definitely stay at Marco Polo Gateway on our next visit.

We were greeted by a bellhop after having been dropped off by the complimentary shuttle bus from the airport (a plus!) who was very helpful...

For some reason, the front desk clerk could not find our reservations but she gave us a room anyway. To our surprise, we were given a real key... instead of the usual cardkey that hotels use these days. The room was big with two king or queen size beds... very comfortable and came with oh-so-nice pillows. :) Extremely expensive internet in the room but for some reason, I had access to free internet in their lobby (the concierge said there was none).

The bathroom was also big, very nice and the shower was easy to operate. No pool within the hotel but guests have access to the Marco Polo Hongkong pool. No gym but you can access the Fitness First in Harbour City for HK$55 (which is supposedly a special rate).

The hotel is located within a shopping mall which is definitely a plus. It's also right along Canton Road and walking distance to the subway.

Stayed there 3 nights for business. Made a mistake as recommended by many people to be one of good hotel in kowloon. Dislike the room as it is very old and infact it is not worth money spent, The hotel is still using mornal key to open it guestroom door. This is already 20th century (My gods) Bathroom is so old, look like i am in 1990 hotel.

For sure, I will not go back. Rather go to Langham which is opposite

I travelled to Hong Kong with a friend of mine, at the time we were both 16 and were treated with the upmost respect. The hotel was extremely clean and the staff were extremely helpful (regardless of wealth!). Granted i have not stayed here in a few years, however would reccomend it to anyone!!!!!

We ended up staying at the Marco Polo Gateway after spending over a month deciding on where to stay for our first trip to Hong Kong (I went there with my sister). We wanted a hotel that is near all the shopping areas so we can rest our feet and leave our purchases in between shopping trips. I also needed a hotel that's near the MTR or accessible to the Airport Express as I planned to watch a concert at the Asia World Expo.

Needless to say, Marco Polo Gateway was perfect. I did not care much about rooms; as long as it had air conditioning and a decent bed and bathroom I'm fine with it, especially since we barely spent 24 hours in our hotel rooms combined. :P The beds were comfortable, the view was uninspiring but then who goes to hotels for the views of the harbour when you can take a 5 minute walk to the harbour yourself during the day? The air conditioning was easy to adjust but it remained a bit cold no matter what temperature I chose (but then HK was unbelievably warm and humid when we went there so returning to a cold room was perfect, lol). The staff were very friendly and attentive, and I have to commend the guys at the concierge, they were very patient with us two girls traveling on our own. Every day we would ask them where the nearest [insert place/shop/restaurant here] and they were always quick to answer (in good English!) and with a smile, too. Beds and all room amenities were changed immediately after going out for shopping at 10 am in the morning, and by the time we returned at 12 noon for a quick dumping of our purchases the room was already cleaned up. :D The bathroom is spacious and clean as well.

Again, location is the key of this hotel - 5 minutes walk to the Tsim Tsam Tsui MTR, 10 or 12 minutes walk to the Star Ferry harbour, plus it's right next to the ferry that can take you to Macau. Lots of awesome shops are located right across it at Canton Road, and Nathan Road is just a few blocks away. There are bus stops and cheap eats a few minutes walk away, and the hotel is situated right in the Gateway mall so it's very safe to return to even if you're coming back late at night. Overall I loved staying at the Gateway and will definitely go back to this hotel next time I travel to Hong Kong. :)

I booked this hotel along with a tour package. The stay was plesent and the staff were helpful, therefore service was great. The location of the hotel is spectacular, since you are able to access Hong Kongs subway and major shopping areas easily. The rooms were nice in size, although the staff had put us into a corner unit which we ended up having no accessible view at all, just other room windows.
