“Great environment but food was mediocre”
Reviewed 8 June 2014

We chose to be seated outdoors as the indoor area seemed a bit shabby. The view outside was great as it overlooks Silvermine beach. We were seated more towards the end of the terrace near some trees on the side which may have been a bad idea as we were eaten alive by mozzies towards the end of our meal. Service is quick and friendly, but I would say the food was a bit disappointing. We ordered the Thai green curry with chicken, garlic bread and cajun chicken strips. No doubt portions were huge. We had 10 huge slices of garlic bread for a mere price of HKD55! Green curry was a bit bland and the cajun chicken was overcooked which was very very disappointing as they actually promoted their curry to be quite good. We didn't enjoy our experience too much due to the mozzie incident so we left immediately after we finished our food.

“Lovely”

Lovely people, lovely food, lovely view, lovely location.
Great Thai Chicken Curry there. They also do tasty home made chips. It's a pleasant room with a long balony with a canopy, we sat out there.

“Great food”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

We visited yesterday, Easter Sunday, and were a table of 6 adults and 5 kids. The menu is quite extensive. 3 choices for kids. Our party ordered 2 Cajun chicken dishes, 3 surf and turf and 1 steak. The steak are rib eyes and all were cooked to perfection. The portions are very very generous. Most of the menu dishes are BBQ style as the kitchen is outside and run by an all female crew.
All the staff were very accommodating. I have heard that their apple pie is outstanding but I was too full after my surf and turf so we will be back to try that next time.
They also advertise that they have a roof terrace that you can hire out for private parties and order from their menu.
It is a hidden gem and I can't believe we have been in HK 5 years, hike to Mui Wo most weeks and this is the first time I have eaten here. We will def be back. Thank you

“A hidden gem”
Reviewed 22 March 2014 via mobile

Lantau is an oasis of countryside seeking expats with young families desiring beach, solitude and probably good inexpensive schooling. The town/village of Mui Wo is a bit beaten about - seen better days but kind of interesting. After a 35 min fast ferry or 60 min slow one, you arrive and ponder what to do. There aint much. And what there is seems like Southend in Asia. But thats the attraction of this little village on a beautiful bay with great sandy beach and safe swimming year round. Make your way along the beach and you will find China Beach Club - a fading white 2 storey building. Poor signage, but thats almost to possibly deter newcomers. Shabby chic is my description of the interior. Narrow balcoony has a handful of tables so get one of those (you can pre book) and the place is open Friday to Sunday. Run by an all girl crew, this is a touch quirky.....the menu is mainly BBQ style (you learn later on the way to the loo, that there is only an outdoore BBQ kitchen) although you can - get this - order a Norfolk Breakfast (kippers et al)). The specials are always fish and what we had was really good food. Huge servings. Well spiced. Well cooked and served by ever chatty girls. Dont expect haut cuisine - thank heavens. And beware evenings as I reckon the place would be dangerous (expats, locals having a really good time). Heatedly recommend t just foor a change to Hollywood Road etc. I am giving it a 5 as it ticked all the boxes. Oh, cash only.
