“It hurt to pay a service charge!”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

All Veg Indian food is such an opportunity for any restaurant outside India that its location would not matter....people would go miles to find it....unfortunately we found Woodland HK! Waiting to find a table was where the nightmare began and we should have walked away at 730pm when we requested a table for 3. After waiting outside for 30 minutes and several omissions later I had to cajole someone, even beg him to get a table...good part was that wife got her window shopping done in the meanwhile. Ravenously hungry we ordered a south indian thali each at...by now 820 pm....we got the first one at 9.15....and the other two, after many polite reminders, at 945 pm...but they got the order wrong and we got puri instead of roti...we should have taken it....but we still did not understand that the restaurant really did not care about anything except our money...by the time we got the right meal it was just past 10...would you blame me if I did not enjoy the meal?

Naturally, I had a lot of time to notice that the restaurant was poorly kept, and the aircon was not working well enough. It was difficult to find the order takers and servers because they were not distinct from the guests in any way.

When I finally paid I told the server, "this is the one time it really hurts me to pay a 10% service charge." May be as a token he let me have a 5 dollar discount on a 385 dollar bill!! If he had intended it as an insult he succeeded!

“Dosas are good”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

Bang Opposite Tsim Sha Tsui MTR exit on Modi Street, next to Shngri La in the mall, on the first Floor. Dosa and Sambar was good. Tried Paneer Butter Masal, Paneer was hard, masla was too oily. Can give it a try when you want to have south Indian dosas or similar stuff after watching Symphony of Lights or if you are in the Kowloon area.

“Average Restaurant”
Reviewed 3 May 2014 via mobile

It was our first and last visit to this restaurant. We were hungry and in search of good vegetarian restaurant but unluckily landed there.Food quality was so so and waiter taking order or serving food was behaving as if he was obliging.Even for bill we have to rigour.Ambience and furnitures were outdated.

“Very good South Indian food and the worst service ever!”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

It is perhaps one of the best South Indian restaurants outside India. The food is delicious and tastes quite authentic. However, as good as the food is, the service is likely the worst ever. When I was there, there were at least four tables where they got the orders wrong and they were really surprised when the customers wanted the order corrected! On another occasion, when we went for dinner, they had a private party going on that was supposed to end around 6:30, but it was past 7 and it still didn't get done. They told me it would only be another 10 minutes several times... and after about, 20 minutes, they said it would be another 30-40 minutes. Crazy!! Overall, if you want good, authentic South Indian food, go here--but expect nothing by way of service.

“One of the best”
Reviewed 18 April 2014

One of the best place to have Indian Vegetarian food in HongKong. Masala Dosa, Dahi Puri were excellent. Bit expensive but a must try place.
