“convenient to the airport and quiet”
Reviewed 8 September 2011

Stayed here because of an early-morning flight the next day. It's just a stone's throw from the airport, with a free shuttle, yet the rooms are quiet: I did not hear any planes. I was impressed by the modern, stylish lobby; an airport hotel does not need to make such an effort. Service was good, except the reception team messed up the late arrival of one in my travel group, despite being given her name ahead of time.

Stayed here in the Executive Suites. Huge room: separate powder room w/toilet in addition to full bathroom with excellent rain shower head.

Restaurants are $$$, but, it is what it is. Food is good. Club level lounge is one of better Marriott lounges in world (I am Marriott Platinum member and have experienced a lot of Marriott hotels in world).

Staff all friendly and helpful.

Definitely would recommend...

Room Tip: Executive suite can be half price if 2-night stay or more...

I used this hotel for the day during an lengthy layover in Hong Kong. Comfortable beds, good clean bathroom, plenty of natural light available to combat any jet lag but dark corridors otherwise. I think it has all the amenities but did not use them so can't be sure. There's a free shuttle to the terminal building but it is too far to walk. You can walk to the train station however which is essentially connected to the hotel, it's the airport express line but the station after the airport (the convention centre station).

There's not particularly any other reason to stay here apart from the convention centre but if you have a long layover and need somewhere to crash without having enough time to stay in Hong Kong itself then this is a good option.

It's located a 10 to 15mins walk away from the airport, makes traveling to town a big hassle.
There's free shuttle bus from airport and Tung Chung, but it's still very inconvenient.

Room is comfortable, considering that there was 3 of us.

Would only recommend for those only transiting and not heading to town.

Recently spent two nights at the Hong Kong SkyCity Marriott due to flights being cancelled into New York because of hurricane Irene.

The SkyCity Marriott is a step above your typical airport Marriott hotel. Located on the airport property, it’s about a 5-10 shuttle ride from the airport. Room views are either of the airport or the harbor.

Rooms take on a very modern look with lacquered veneer wood walls, modern furniture and bright color carpeting Bathrooms are large (both the full and half bath) and have a separate tub and shower. I was upgraded to a two room harbor view suite on the 15th floor due to my Marriott Elite status which also included access to what could be the largest lounge I’ve ever seen in a Marriott (except for maybe the Marriott Marquis in NY). The lounge offers a full breakfast and evening appetizers, free bar and dessert seven days a week. The lounge also has a balcony that overlooks the Hong Kong airports runway where you can watch all the international jumbo jets coming in for a landing.
The hotel has its own spa, large indoor lap pool, nicely equipped gym and three restaurants. There is a free shuttle service that runs every half hour to the CityGate Outlet Mall and also to the aerial tram that will take you to the world’s largest bronze Buddha. The tram is not for the faint of heart especially the cars with glass floors. But if you don’t mind heights it’s a great ride and view. If you want to go to Disneyland, it’s one stop away from the mall on the MTR train.

You can also easily get to Kowloon and central Hong Kong using the airport express train. There is a stop right next door to the hotel at the Expo center less than a five minute walk away. There’s even a nine hole executive golf course that’s available to hotel guests and is lit for nighttime play.

I don’t think I’d choose this hotel if I was visiting Hong Kong although the airport express train would certainly make it easy to get back and forth. The SkyCity Marriott is a great choice if you’re transiting in or out of Hong Kong and have limited time to see some of the sights.

We arrived at 3.30pm to be told that our special request, a bathroom with a bath tub, would only be ready in an hour. Given that we were leaving the hotel at 5.30am, we were not using their facilities for very long!
We had requested this on the booking form , but the check in clerk had not noticed the request.
The check in clerk appeared new at her job and very uncertain of what to do.
This was was matched by the person making coffee while we waited for our room.
I feel that it is not fair on any employee to be put forward before they are properly trained. Everyone needs a chance, but when you are charging these prices, guests should not be part of the training process.
I would only stay here if my flight was very early, otherwise, use the excellent fast train service and stay in a better hotel in the city.
The very fast train is clean, cheap and runs regularly. There is a free shuttle bus in the city to some lovely hotels.
