“Disappointed”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

During my recent business trip to the Far East, I overnighted at the SkyCity Marriott (during the back end of my trip) and in the Regal Airport Hotel (on the front end of my trip). Overall, I would expect better from a Marriott property. Although the room was spacious, the walls were "thin" and one could hear sounds from both adjoining rooms and through the ceiling (in addition to planes taking off and landing). In my case, the noise levels in an adjoining room were bothersome (I contacted the front desk, but no change occurred). Further, the cups and water glasses in the coffee area were soiled (there was lipstick on both coffee cups). I ate one dinner on the property and the food was acceptable (but nothing special). In my opinion, the Regal Airport Hotel is a better choice on a number of dimensions: (1) it was more convenient (accessible right from Terminal 1), (2) cheaper, (3) quieter, and (4) a higher value (I stayed on the executive level and it included a free buffet breakfast).

My husband and I spent a night at this property on our way to Bali. The hotel is beautiful, extremely clean and the service levels are very high. Every staff interaction we had during our stay exceeded our expectations. The food and beverage is also excellent at this hotel. I would highly recommend this property and will stay again on a future trip.

Flied in from China and had an one night here before catching next day's flight out.
Got on the shuttle around 11PM, and it took about 5 mins to the hotel. To my surprise, a staff was waiting in front of the hotel for me and led me to my room right away for in room check in. The staff also informed the lounge was still open so I paid a visit; unfortunately, it's late so only soft drinks and coffee. I went there again the second morning for breakfast but it was not good; fortunately, I was told I could also go to lobby for buffet breakfast and it was a feast!
I also had a chance to check out the gym - it's good (not great) but well run and VERY clean. And the staff there was very nice and helpful too.

I had been to couple dozens of different Marriott or Renaissance hotels, but this Marriott is almost in Ritz level! It's definitely more than your average airport hotel -- however, be warned, it's rate is not your average airport hotel either... Even so, I definitely will stay here again.

Arrived to HK @ almost midnite and make use of the Hotel shuttle service from the airport to hotel. Located about 5mins drive from airport.

The room size is quite spacious and facing the sea. Didn't hear any sound of aeroplane. For Muslim, the hotel provide Halal ala carte menu. The breakfast buffet is not Halal tho.

Convenient to go to Disneyland & Citygate outlet as there's shuttle service provided. Overall. it's a great hotel to stay with family. I had travelled with my 3 children.

Room Tip: If travelling with family, do request for the 2 double bed room.

Incredibly friendly staff, from the moment you get to their arrivals hall kiosk until you're dropped back off at the airport. The staff is very good at doing the handoffs (from Kiosk to driver to bellman to check in) and helping guide you in the right direction.

Like other Marriotts in Asia, if you have status, they'll direct you to the Executive Lounge on the 12th floor to check in. Unlike other Marriotts, the concierge is actually waiting for you, with all the paperwork completed and room keys ready to go. The people at the kiosk have called ahead to let them know you're coming. They just swipe your credit card and send you on your way.

Rooms are very nice. Fairly new, very stylish, and incredibly clean.

Platinum members get access to the lounge breakfast or the big buffet on the main floor.

The lobby area always tends to be hectic. Large tour groups occupying the majority of the seats and blabbering loudly. You'd think you were at a sporting event instead of a nice hotel.

Now the one thing that I don't like about the hotel is the process of getting from the airport to the hotel. This is second time I've stayed here, so the process seems to be SOP. The kiosk personnel will tell you 5-7 minutes for the shuttle and to have a seat. In reality, it's closer to 20 min, before you go downstairs. After sitting on a plane for several hours to get to HK, the last thing I want to do is sit down and hang around an airport terminal.

While the hotel is on airport property, it's not all that close to the terminal. Probably a 5 min drive. You can actually hop on the Airport Express and take it to the AsiaWorld Expo station. From there, go to Exit A, walk straight ahead, and follow the signs to the SkyCity Marriott. I think it costs about 5 HKD. If I knew the shuttle would take 20 minutes to arrive, I would definitely take the train over to the hotel.

I stayed at this Hotel on a 2-day business trip. The Hotel is only a 5 minute free shuttle bus from the airport so very convenient after a long-haul flight. This bus runs 3 times an hour so maximum wait is 20 minutes. The bed-rooms are a very good size and as you would expect from the Marriott, the beds themselves are extremely comfortable. I stayed on the Ocean-view side … I believe there is a premium for these rooms but in my view it is not worth it. The Ocean view is mainly of a scruffy looking harbour side and distant view of HK downtown. We used the meeting room facilities as we had meetings over 2 days there. These were excellent and there was always somebody around if you wanted assistance. Indeed, on the second day, rather than going the main buffet restaurant, we got breakfast brought to us in the meeting room which was very convenient.

Booked an executive room with club lounge access, as I read here that the lounge had an acceptable level of complimentary drinks & food. I found this not to be the case. At normal times, the only offering from the club lounge were cans of fizzy drinks and a coffee machine. The seating in the club lounge was more befitting a meeting room than a lounge. The straight backed chairs provided are not conducive to a long stay. I did visit the lounge during 'happy hour' and was slightly shocked at the low quality of snacks offered. I quickly ventured to one of the restaurants and had an acceptable burger.

The hotel service staff could take some lessons from the chambermaid staff. Always friendly with a ready smile, they put the grumpy service staff to shame.

A comfortable place to stay with acceptable food. Just avoid the club rooms as there is no point in paying extra for that service.

Room Tip: close to the lift - but not next to the lift
