Funky makeover of a heritage building into boutique hotel. Extremely small rooms and no elevator, absolutely not for those with heavy luggage. Got great deal from asiawebdirect.com, hk$500 for double room. Tight space but very comfy bed. You may have to put up with noises from the busy streets; this is wan chai after all.

Not your typical hotel, but rather fun to be in an old tenement house - for a great value too!

Good location, very close to MTR, good service, nice room with balcony.
Room is small, but let's face it, it's Hong Kong. I've been in rooms much smaller there.
The only drawbacks are that is has no elevator, my room was in the last floor and going up with luggage was a considerable effort, and that rooms face to the street so there is considerable noise.

after arriving from a 13hr flight and then 40min taxi ride my colleague & I were looking forward to a good nights sleep & a hot bath.

We arrived at the hotel and were stunned into slience, having stayed at many hotels over the years I have to say words failed me. The rooms were tiny, cramped & the noise of the cockroaches were audible. It was noisey both outside & inside the hotel, heaps of rubbish piled up outside the guestrooms, the internet connection straight outstide the door were other hotel guests were on U Tube for most of the night.

No facilities, no service just a tiny horrid room so unsuitable for any business traveller needing down time. We booked in Wed 11pm & by Thur 7.30am we'd booked out 7 hours was more than enough....thankfully the lovely little Charter House Hotel a few blocks up the street had 2 rooms & a full suite of facilites for only $200HK extra...no roaches, no noise and excellent service. I WILL never Mingle anywhere again

Room Tip: Dont book unless your a back packer.

World's smallest room but clean and pleasant
I read online about the hotel rooms are small
Heath did not surprise me really, but the room was really small
the Bed grabbed the whole room
So when I opened the suitcase just could not go to the bathroom
Compact Heat services but new and upgraded spacious shower
Hotel after upgrade
I'm very impressed the room because it did not expect much
Definitely worth the money I paid

Room Tip: Recommended not take room window facing street

Stayed in one of the lite rooms; reminds me of microhotel I stayed in in Christchurch, NZ. Have to move slow.....or else you will bang elbows, knees against column, doors or other fixtures. Support column next to bed requires twisting to getting in/out. Bed is 6' long, wedged in between wall & window, no excess space... I'm only 5'10" so not a problem. Biggest catch is street noise, stayed on 4th floor overlooking busy 2 lane road with constant bus traffic...but atleast HK drivers don't honk unlike those at home in NYC....should really replace french style doors w/something more sound proof...resorted to ear plugs. Should repaint white walls with darker color....scuffs all over but that's minor aesthetic point to me. Employee helped me carry bag down stairs post checkout, i was impressed by this compensation for lack of elevator, but i did lug bags up myself at check in. I enjoyed the stylish touches even if some of it has faded. Techy media system a little confusing to use. Staircase was well maintained & look pleasant but there's no front door at street. Bathroom was fine, no issues. Stayed at Mingle Wing 2 weeks ago, roomier but shower issues on 12th floor (kept alternating between hot/cold)...also excellent location. Designer clearly gave much thought to how the hotel is set up.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The pros are that (1) the hotel is very cheap by Hong Kong standards (my HK friend thought the single room with balcony for less than HK$600 a night was possibly the best deal in the city); (2) it's clean and (3) it's well-located in Wanchai which has plenty of eateries and public transport options. It's only a short tram/MTR ride to Central and Causeway Bay.

The cons are that (1) there is minimal service and the hotel has no lifts so be prepared to lug luggage and shopping up a few flights of stores; (2) there was construction going on while I was there and it started every morning at 8am which made it difficult to sleep in past that time; (3) the room was the smallest I had ever been in my life (and I lived in HK for 18 months) which I don't think would suit people used to Western-sized houses or apartments and (4) the airconditioning leaked a bit so I had to stagger the use of the airconditioning.

I'm trying JJ's Hotel for another upcoming trip to Hong Kong (it's slightly more expensive) but if JJ's hadn't been available I would probably have returned to this hotel but this time would have booked a double room.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a lower floor

Try and find a decent hotel in HK for HKD$350 on HK Island.. this is it!

Wifi works well.

If you are going to complain about the really small rooms, stay at a more expensive hotel. It's Hong Kong!
