Beautiful concept but badly managed. The place is very small that looks like it was made out of a store room. Not a problem if they serve good drinks.

The tiny room was not even meant for so many people and yet they kept accepting customers. We were made to stand until the next available seats but clearly there is no system at all - people just took the empty seats even though they arrived later. Hello we arrived earlier...

Anyway we cancelled our order because it was taking forever and standing is not a comfortable way to wait for it. Some people were not even drinking and occupying the space but oh well management doesn’t seem to care anyway.

Nice little store room but sadly poorly managed. How did they shoot up to high on Asia’s 50 best I can’t say for sure since we did not get a chance to try as one drink did not even arrive even after 20 mins of standing and waiting.

While I did enjoy my short stay at The Old Man the past weekend, I'm not entirely sure how it ranked so highly on the Asia's Best 50 Bars list, especially having lived in Singapore, where each cocktail bar that I've visited has really stood out in its own ways. I suppose the built-in cooling strip at the counter is a great idea, and I do love myself a nice themed cocktail bar - this being Hemingway if that wasn't clear by now (and all drinks are named after his novels!) - but the cocktails and the space I thought were just good, but not I-will-definitely-come-back-if-I'm-in-Hong-Kong amazing.

I had The Snows of Kilimanjaro, which was marshmallow gin, lacto-fermented raspberry and citrus topped with gruyere (yes as in the cheese!). To be fair, I thought the cheese was a very nice touch to add some complexity and balance to an otherwise regular fruity, sweet drink, so I suppose bonus points there! I forgot what my friend had, but that I think I considered average only. Either way, I did enjoy my drink, but something about the space didn't really entice me to stay for second rounds.
