I'll be back - its only 2 months old and they've got the formula right from the get go. The staff are pleasant and the decor very 2010. The hotel is located near a corner site and like all buildings in Hong Kong, thin yet wide - one central corridor with rooms either side.
The hotel is situated on a main road in Causeway Bay and a few blocks away from the legendary Times Square shopping area - the location is excellent.
There's tons of space in the room considering the site and every conceivable thing is catered for - AV inputs for computer to 50" LCD TV, iPod dock, surround sound (ok - I love gadgets!). The bathroom has a moveable bedroom wall which exposes the bathroom and also means you can see TV while taking a shower (yes - the bathroom speaker works great). The marble bathroom contains a bath (not spa) and monsoon / removable shower choice. The desk is well positioned so you can work with natural outside light over the shoulder. The bed is huge and "firm but fair" with a pillow menu on offer.
Being an internet guy, I think the Hotel could do better with getting reasonable priced / free Internet on offer. After my 24 hours expired, I searched for free wireless alternatives outside the window. The cost of HK$140 / 24 hours is a little on the high / silly side.
The Gym is amazing - it's such a prime position overlooking the HK Jockey Club on the top floor and is small yet you don't feel overwhelmed with machines. Though tempting, the bar on the the same floor (which is just reward after working out!?) overlooking the city and the heated pool (kept at 28 deg we are told). The outdoor shower by the pool is a one of the world's strangest places to cleanse before a dip! very cool.
Downstairs from here (two flights of stairs) is the "Pavilion" which is a Sky Garden and with the combination of seating, small ponds and great service, this place is a great hangout over Hong Kong.
We only ate breakfast at the restaurant in the morning. The selection and service is excellent and I recommend the dim sum for breakfast! Beware though of the over-zealous staff who will remove your used plate a nano-second after you've eaten the last morsel on it. The Espresso is excellent.
Crowne Plaza must be very proud of this property - I'm coming back for more one day.
