“Great location in Mongkok”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

Location is great, one block away from Langham Place mall (literally across from you), few blocks away from Ladies market, loads of shops and places to eat all within walking distance (even just outside the hotel). Great BBQ goose place just a few shops down. A/C blows cold, which was great in the 30 degree and 99% humidity weather. Mongkok MTR station is only a few blocks away, easily walkable.

There are no facilities, such as gym/exercise room, etc. This is to be expected from a small hotel in HK. Not sure if they have a business centre, as I didn't check. Front desk staff were adequate in service, in that they weren't going out of their way to help you with anything, just check you in, take your money, and check you out. Not necessarily poor service, just could have been more friendly and helpful.

Steps lead up to the lobby. No lift or elevator. Easy for mobile people, but not so easy for those with big heavy luggage. I already knew this, however, but for my parents who are seniors, they would not have been able to bring up their own luggage.

It is a small hotel. There were only 3 room on our floor, and I would assume the same for the rest of the floors. We were on the 10 floor, which was great, as we could see Langham place from our room. You will still hear street noise though (ear plugs are your friend hehe). The room itself is basic. We got a family room (1 queen/double bed and 1 twin). Decent sized room. Enough space to put 3 big luggage and 3 small carry-on sized bags.

Bathroom is decent. Toilet seat wasn't of proper size, so it didn't really cover the full toilet rim. Shower stall is a good size but there is no curtain or sliding door to close, just a half wall, so some water will spill out. Not a big deal, as there is drainage for the water. Enough hot water for long showers. Usual moldy corners, edges and caulking, not too bad though. Toilet could have been cleaner, but not gross.
Bedding wasn't changed during our stay, but we were only there for 3 days. Bed are stiff.
We didn't get towels our first night there, and just used our own. The next few days we were given towels, which are individually wrapped and sealed in plastic. First time I saw this, and it does give you a sense of clean towels. So you do get full sized towels and hand towels, just no face cloths.

I'm not sure if they have any non-smoking rooms, as our room had ash trays and matches, which would indicate you are allowed to smoke in the room. However our room didn't smell of cigarettes, so we may have been lucky in that our room wasn't smoked in previous bookings to ours.

They required a HKD$500 deposit, which is returned to you when you check out. Not a big deal, as we had the money, but something you will want to budget for. We had spent all our money and used the $500 deposit for our cab ride to the airport.

Room Tip: Room on a higher floor to help alleviate street noise.

Plus:
+ Great price and decent accommodation in HK standard
+ Spacious TRP room, comfy bed, spacious bathroom, all clean, full amenities in the bathroom, they even provide bath robes
+ Excellent location, 5min walk to MRT Mongkok Station Exit 2/4, surrounded by eateries, also only 5min walk to Langham Place Mall where there is a BIG H&M store to shop for :)
+ Fast check in / check out
+ English speaking & helpful staffs
+ Free luggage storage in the lobby

Minus:
- Hard to find, even the locals/taxi driver didn't really know about this small hotel (the hotel door is just like an ordinary shop door, small and simple)
- Few staircases to climb around 10-15 steps, before you arrived at lobby (so pls don't bring BIG lugagge - as there is also no porterage service)
- Very small and crowded lobby (esp during check in/out time)

Room Tip: Book the TRP room and you will get a very spacious room!

I would rather spend more to get a better room.

yes, it has basic stuff that you need, well located, and room does look like the one in pic. However we were very very turned off with the room standard.

On the first night, I was bitten all over under the comforter. As it was summer, and the air con wasnt working well, i slept in top and shorts. called reception, lady did not sound very happy and said rudely that they were full house and we could not change rooms. she offered to get house keeping to change sheets. housekeeping came only 1/2hr later. and we showed the house keeping the freshly bitten bites. She insisted it was mosquitoe bites..

We stayed a total of 4 nights. and these 4 nights ( and day- we asked during day time to change rooms and showed them the bites but they ignored me saying it could be bitten when we were out sight seeing), they are all full house and we could not change rooms though the biting continued.

I will definitely not return to this hotel.
The only reason why i gave 2 stars is because of its centralized location.

* PS stayed during Aug 2012, review only now as im checking out hotels for my coming trip to HK this dec. Viewed this hotel by chance and decided on my input.

Room Tip: Do not get the top floor room during summer.

the accommodation was good enough as your are in hk. the bed and the toilet is spacious enough and the room look exactly like what the photo had shown. one problem with the room is the air cond which shall be service as there is a little bit leakage. other than that everything was good. the hotel is also very near to the shopping mall, bus and mtr station.

Stayed here for a few nights whilst at the hong kong sevens. Excellent central location! Absolutely everything you need just outside the hotel, food, drinks and transport. Clean, small basic rooms. No bar or facilities. Reasonably priced for my stay. Would recommend and stay again.

This is really just a 2 star. Big flight of stairs to climb to get in. If you have heavy bags.....beware. No staff except 1 front desk. Place is a dive. Pretty good sized rooms for Hong Kong. But may not be worth it with the peeling wallpaper, and lack of heat in the winter. (We froze) If you did want to use the a/c...it's your basic hardware store window variety. Kinda like a motel 8....in Louisiana.

Room Tip: Spend a bit more somewhere else and be happier.

We booked a standard room for 4 nights. The rooms are rather small., allowing only single walking space around a king size bed. There is no space to place a large luggage. Bed is solid hard with very flat pillows. It was very cold through the night (around 10deg) at this time of the year and there wasn't any room heating. The central air-conditioning only blows cold air, adding to the cold of the room. TV channels are very limited and wifi is terribly slow and useless. Front desk staff has very limited knowledge; easier to ask 'google' for answers. No fridge in room, you have to use the staff's common fridge; ask the front desk. Entrance is a steep flight of stairs leading to the lobby on 2nd floor. Rather costly stay for such quality service and facilties.

The only redeeming points: lotsa eateries around, close to MTR and shopping nearby.

I would not return useless I had no better choices elsewhere. Will definitely try other places 1st.

Room Tip: If u need space, Choose a family room, they are much larger but will cost u more.
