“Very good hostel if you're in a tight budget.”

First, it's hard to find when you're new in HK. It's easier to find when you go for a train ride because it's near monkok station than riding a bus though there's no clear sign of the name of the hostel (you have to ask someone who understands english). When booking online through credit card, and you check-in on the day of your arrival, you have to pay in cash and the payment that you booked online is not credited in your
credit card unless you don't show up. Very small room and CR but it's clean. Though our toilet bowl does not flash properly. No free towel and soap but free water to drink. It has a very high speed wifi internet and very accessible to any place in HK because it's near mongkok station. They offer discounted prices to any
tourist attractions in HK. Overall, a very good hostel if you're in a tight
budget.

We booked a room online with credit card. On arrival we were offered "a more private apartment" in another location nearby, but we still had to find the Oi Suen Guesthouse first - itself quite a challenge, as there is no sign from outside. Clear instructions using key landmarks, signs and road names would be helpful for future visitors!
When we found the place, the English-speaking contact Ms Ellen was not there - all communication was done with her by phone. First they wanted us to pay the full amount in cash upfront, before we even saw the room and despite having reserved with full credit card details. We were treated with some suspicion but eventually reason prevailed and they agreed we could pay the next day, but insisted on keeping a passport as deposit.
We were then led through the busy streets a few blocks to our apartment - tiny but clean and newly decorated and with windows on two sides. My biggest concern was the possible fire risk in this cramped building with rickety lift, but there were signed fire escapes either side of our apartment door.
The next day we returned to the Oi Suen Guesthouse to retrieve our passport, and after much persuasion (on the phone with Ms Ellen) they agreed to return the passport and collect the cash payment from our room the next day (we had booked for 4 nights).
They then made a mistake about the amount payable and insisted we pay an additional $800 plus $200 key deposit on the last day, which meant another trip to the cashpoint and a second withdrawal fee - both time-wasting and costly. But there was no apology, just rude, aggressive threats that they would turn our stuff out of the room if we didn't pay up.
In short, basic but clean. No towels or courtesy included.
btw, Best bet for edible Western breakfast is to google Starbucks. Steer well clear of the Cafe de Coral that Ellen recommended, unless you like Chinese-style greasy fry-ups!

Room Tip: Rooms were tiny and smaller than billed. A "double bed and bunk bed" turned out to be a sm...

Hi,

It is our policy to take payment in cash once you have viewed the room in accordance to your booking to your satisfaction. Because you claimed to not have any cash, we really appreciate that you gave me your passport as guarantee. Thank you! That is why we honored your word that you would pay the next day which is actually against our policy.
We honored your word for 4 days which we have never done before but we do understand that accidents/difficulties do happen and arise.
Our fire escape routes all comply with the law and we are absolutely confident that our guests are in safety.
We do give genuine advice on Hong Kong as we hope that your stay is perfect in this hustling and bustling country! Cafe de Coral is one of the most traditional restaurants in Hong Kong and have been featured in almost every tour guide book of Hong Kong if not Asia. Cafe de Coral has won numourous awards for its quality since 1968!!!

A bit difficult to find as the number of the street is a block . The entrance is in a small street perpendicular to Argyle Street. I took these stairs as there was a queue for the lift . Dirty and scary. Once in the room , I had what I expected : the room was the size of the bed but very clean. Just to sleep is ok if you are not claustrophobic

Room Tip: If you stay in Hong Kong for few days and want to have a real full day in Macao , don't wait for...

The location is good and easy to find MTR, bus, shopping center...etc, all near the hostel. The staffs are very kind and willing to answer our questions. In addition, They post a paper which is written information about amusement parks, shopping streets, and transportations on the wall in the room, very sweet. They even can help to sell you tickets or mobile card if you need.
Oh, they also provide drinking water, this is very good!

The room is too small~!! I can't even turn around in the bathroom.

This is my first time in Hong Kong.
I love this place because it near Mongkok MTR station so you can travel to other place in Hong Kong easily. You can walk from this place to Ladies' Market. Room is clean but very small. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

this is probably on the the better guest house in hongkong and it's situated right in the center of the mongkok shopping district. one of the lady staff, rainbow, is great to speak to if you need any advice or recommendation for places to visit or stuff to do, if you have not already made plans.

The rooms are extremely small(not advisable for those that are claustrophobic) but relatively clean, and they are all thinly partitioned and therefore you can actually hear other guests coming and going. great for making friends, but not so great if you need some alone time with a partner. ;)

And for all cat lovers, do note that there is a cat cafe in the same building, at level 3 or 5 if i remember correctly. great hangout place till late.

Room Tip: pay a little more, USD$10 for a room with windows. it's really quite bad staying in one without...
