“Nice and neat place to experience a different side of HK”
Reviewed 31 December 2012

Book a room with 4 beds and got upgraded to 8 beds. Stay for 7 nights

Room is simple, neat and clean. Consider the price we pay for it, it is indeed value for money.

Breakfast is very very basic and most of the time not very tasty.

Wifi is free but signal is weak. Try to get a room near the reception area well the signal is strongest.

The best part about this resort is that it is located in Ma Wan or Park Island. This is an island where cars are restricted entry. It is quiet, relax and laid back. A very differnt part of HK.

Nearby hotel there are couple of F&B outlets so food is not a problem but quality is not as good as HK Island and Kowloon. There is also a supermarket and 7-11.

Travel in/out is either via bus or ferry which will connect you to other mode of transport like MTR. Taxi is avaliable during weekday only. There is a bus that goes straight to airport too. You can use octopus card for bus/ferry operated in this island.

Very ideal for family (if u can handle the extra traveling in/out of the island)

Room Tip: near reception for better wifi

It was a bit tricky to find the bus that accesses Ma Wan Island, but after that initial roadblock, finding the hotel was easy. Just follow the signs. Even the security guard was expecting us at such a late hour.

Do not be put off when you arrive after 10, being told that there is no more food, except the packaged snacks from the vending machine.
Walk towards the 7 eleven (the staff recommends the location to you) and walk further to discover a quaint Japanese restaurant that serves delicious food. Try the curry pork rice.
You can also enjoy the view of the bridge.

The receptionist, Hadley was a wonderful soft-spoken lady who seemed unfazed by our numerous questions and group check-ins that was happening at the same time. Kudos.

The hotel room is small, but by Hong Kong standards is reasonable. There is no view from the room balcony but it does provide a small area to enjoy the morning air.

Beds are hard, but we didn't mind it and rested well.

Service was wonderful with staff fluent in English and ever ready for any questions you might have.

Breakfast was a pitiful selection of white bread, vermicelli i noodles and tea or coffee. The view at the dining area was magnificient compared to the food.

Overall a good stay and would return and recommend this hotel.

My children and I stayed last November 2011 on this place and my three teenagers enjoyed the scenery, everything is complete. You don't need to go to other park because the hotel itself has a big park, lots of activities to do. Very clean, secure, safe, not crowded and not noisy. No problem for transportation, all the busses that you need going to the main HK will stop there and you don't need to ride on a taxi to pay more dollars, they have a bus waiting going to the hotel and back to airport. The Arc is incredible.

Room Tip: we pick the 4 beds in one room

Beach and bridge:
very good view and a must for photos both day and night

Rooms:
High ceiling and room size sufficient. Good planning for furniture
Clean and tidy and neat. Plants surrounding outside of room provide privacy.
FREE wifi

Dinner:
buffet of good variety of choice. did not get window table despite availability
MUST make reservation prior

Breakfast:
very very simple

Park:
the "signature" pairs of animals are good for photographs

Conclusion:

From HK Airport Terminal 1, we proceeded to Terminal 2 (T2) just follow the “Hotel Bus /Coaches” sign. Then we waited at Bus Bay No. 21 -22 to catch the Bus - Park Island Route to Noah’s Ark Reort. First night in HK will be spent here.

Bus ride takes around 20 minutes from airport, we alighted and entered a small pass- through- complex/building (near the tall condominiums and almost facing the beach) and walked for 5 minutes to get to the park main entrance which is also the way we took to the resort. Hotel is located inside the park. If you are used to an action-packed Hongkong, you will feel a sort of isolation in this area. My teens felt that way and thought the place was boring.

ROOMS: Affordable and very clean. We got an 8 bunkbed- Room (hostel) and we all loved it. It was sooo comfortable like 5 star quality. It has 2 toilets with all toiletries & towels. Also with a refrigerator, coffee kettle and 1 free bottled water & safety cabinets. Room has access to the common terrace if you need fresh air.

BREAKFAST: Free and served in Harvest Restaurant (opens at 8am – 9:30pm I think) facing the beach/pier (nice view) Its simple but filling – Coffee, tea, bread toasts, chicken sausage, eggs and noodles (which tastes good). Sorry no rice for that day.

PARK : Good for strolling and sight seeing for small kids and senior citizens since its not as busy as Disneyland or Ocean Park especially during weekday. My teens find it too “quiet” with no action or rides. Half day visit is okay. Hotel guests are given a pass but NOT for the park attractions but a pass to use if you opted to go out of the hotel to shop/eat outside or stroll to the beach and nearby eateries (ask the reception for the exit at lower ground as not to pass the park main entrance anymore)..

TRANSPORTATION/LOCATION: Confusing for first timers. No taxis available just bus which is 24/7. To go shopping, we take the Kwai Fong bus that takes us to Metroplaza Mall (15 minute- ride , fare- hk$10) There’s a MTR/train station in Kwai Fong to further take you to Tsim Sha Tsui or Central. Ask the hotel receptionists for directions and schedules of the buses. Always bring a map.

The view of the bridge and the beach gets lovelier at night. One can sip a beer in a nearby restaurant/small bar for a relaxing night. . again this is the QUIET side of HK, no shopping, no billboards, no loudness. I like this area and will def. stay here again since its nearer to Disneyland and Tung Chung-outlet shopping (by MTR) compare to hotels in Mongkok.

Went there with 3 other GFs for a relaxing weekend stay at Ma Wan. We did not have much expectation before we checked-in for we knew it's hostel instead of hotel. However, the facilities inside our room was out of our expectation and comparable to that of hotel. Besides, its proximity to the beach at Ma Wan allowed us to enjoy the beach and the nice dinner next to it.

Will defn recommend it to other friends!

Room Tip: This time we got upgraded from 4-person to 8-person room for free because all the 4-person rooms are...

This hotel locates inside the Noah's Ark Theme Park and the theme park locates in a small residential island called Ma Wan which is near the Tsing Ma Bridge. It's far away from all major tourist attractions, business area, or shopping area.

I chose this hotel because my family wanted to visit the theme park. The theme park is a good choice only if you have young kids as there aren't much to see except some indoor exhibitions and kid activities.

The room is decent with a modern accent with a large flat-screen TV. There' a nice balcony which you can use to access the outdoor area. Free wi-fi is available in room -- ask the front desk staff to give you the password to access the service upon check in.

The breakfast included in the room price is disappointing as food choices are non-existent! There's a "choice" of chicken sausage, eggs, toast and fried noodles served with coffee or tea only.

I would urge you to instead access a nearby public beach (only a 2-minute walk from the hotel) with several restaurants or a 15 minute walk to the pier nearby for some much better choices.

This is a small hotel with only a few dozen rooms so it is usually quiet. Not a bad choice if you want a quick escape from the bustling city center. Transportation to and from the hotel is easier than expected -- a 20-minute bus ride can take you to several MTR stations (Tsing Yi/Tsuen Wan/Mong Kok/Kwai Fong) or a ferry ride to Central.
