Got my ticket on the street near the hotel. The young man was very personable and his name was Jay. Worth getting all the loops in one. You can buy online for a small discount.
Travel agents, I got $30HKD off the 24 hour price.
For those of you spending more than the day here, get the 48 hour pass. Nice way to see Hong Kong, Kowloon and the outer areas.
Great investment.

On our last day in Hong Kong, decided to take this trip. Wish we'd done it on the first day! The Stanley markets are the best value in Hong Kong, much better than Temple street. Beaches along the way are netted so no bites or stings. Hop on, hop off. Great value.

Despite the pouring rain on & off both days we again found the Big Bus tours a great way to see the place, good numbers of staff on the ground at all the major stops. The buses were in good condition but did find a few areplug jacks either not working or vandalised on some of the buses.
The routes gave good coverage of Hong Kong Island & Kowloon, we were give plenty of tickets for the Star Ferry which came in handy.
The Sampan ride which was included with the bus tickets was good as well, gave us a close up view of local life from water level.

I tried the blue line for Hongkong island during the day and the night tour starting at star ferry terminal in Central. The night tour covers part of the day tour in Hong Kong island before handing off to Kowlong. It was a fabulous night tour and you got too see all the spetecular views.

The day tour was ok. Compared with the experience in Washington DC, Stockholm, Copenhagen, New York and Philadelphia, it is less fun and kind of boring.

Despite staff pushing various packages, we opted for the simple single trip on the green line which took us Stanley and Aberdeen. The narration was informative. Given the narrow roads and crazy driving we think the bus drivers have to focus more on the driving and not passengers. On one leg, our young driver had to deal with a delivery van backing into the front of the bus. The stop in Stanley is well located but the one in Aberdeen is not. We had been told that Aberdeen is a great place to enjoy a seafood meal. However, the, bus sets down in an out of they location which made it impossible to find places to eat other than jumbo floating restaurant which is where we ended up having a late lunch (turned out to be quite good). The sampan ride is short, but certainly gets you up close and personal with local life on the fishing vessels. The busses themselves should have some type of removable roof with open sides so that people wanted to shoot photos or video don't melt on the upper deck.
