“Love the great service as the students learn their trade.”
Reviewed 6 October 2013 via mobile

We have stayed in five star hotels in cities around the world and none of them have rooms of a higher standard. The hotel is the sixth floor of a training college and is run by the students under the close supervision of their instructors. Every task has a plethora of willing hands and it's often entertaining to watch the interaction between trainers and trainees. Having said that, sometimes you need to be a little patient as tasks take slightly longer than normal, or when you are asked the same thing two or three times by different people. Play along and it's great fun. And a scotch and dry made with ginger beer instead of dry ginger ale doesn't taste bad anyway!

There are about 35 rooms, mostly with wonderful ocean views. Free internet connection is available for your devices. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food is well presented and very palatable. Most of the dishes are western food. On Friday nights you can access a delightful Chinese meal on a different floor of the building. It's a set menu of about eight or nine courses, but even I managed to thoroughly enjoy the food, despite being very un-adventurous in my eating habits. (OK, I skipped a couple of courses!)

The hotel is a little off the beaten track but easily accessible by bus or taxi. To Central the bus fare is the equivalent of $1US. Taxi was about $7 US. For Ocean Park, Aberdeen or Stanley it's closer than Central Hong Kong hotels. Many taxi drivers are not aware of its existence, so take along the map you get when they email your confirmation.

Because the service is by trainees, and some facilities such as a pool are missing, you certainly wouldn't give this hotel a Five Star rating, but it's a great opportunity to get a five star experience at a three star price.

We will be back!

We stayed in the T Hotel, Pok Fu Lam, for three nights out of a two week stay in Hong Kong and wished we had booked for the whole trip.

It is a training hotel and sited on one floor of the building and the majority of members of staff are trainees. Therefore, I would have to say that the service was not always perfect but was always enthusiastic.

Check in did take a while (but there were 11 of us checking in together) but the wait was worth it. The rooms were lovely and the nicely fitted bathrooms were a good size, having separate bath and shower cubicles. I can't think of anything that wasn't provided in the room or bathroom, even down to the different bath toy that appeared after turn down service every evening. And turn down service - wow, the best I've ever received.

We took advantage of the hotel hospitality our first evening, giving the trainees plenty of hands on experience in cocktail making (which were so cheap) - we had to make sure we had ticked off every one before we left. The evening meal was delicious. Breakfast the next morning was great. There were noodles and dumplings if so wished, but also continental style breakfasts available, fruits, fruit juices, omelettes, etc.

We had decided to stay only the three nights as some members of our party thought that it was maybe a little far out, but actually, unless you are loaded and can afford to stay in Central, everywhere is a little far out. Many buses, going to and from Central, or to other locations, stopped right outside the hotel, so getting around was not difficult. And I would have happily spent the whole holiday located here. I certainly will the next time.

Would I recommend this hotel? Absolutely, though I would have to add that it is probably not really suited to people with young families.

Stayed at the T for 10 days in September and we strongly recommend it. As it is the training hotel it is a non profit making organization so excellent value for money.

Apart from that it is bright and clean with a warm welcoming atmosphere throughout. The students are closely supervised so not a lot can go wrong. The rooms are spacious by H.K standards and pretty luxurious by mine, we were fortunate to get a fabulous view of the South China Sea from ours The king sized bed was very comfortable, the bathroom - with full bath as well as power shower - spacious. There a multi channel T.V. and a radio with iPod socket( for your own iPod). wifi is included. The mini bar prices are the same as shop prices so the lack of a hotel bar isn't really a problem. Complementary bottles of water are replaced daily. The only quibble was that the bathrooms are a bit on the small size - not for fat westerners like us!

The buffet breakfast served in the restaurant overlooking that spectacular view, caters for all tastes and will set you up for the whole day. The restaurant also serves excellent very reasonably priced dinner. I spent 3 days there alone as my husband had to fly off for business but felt perfectly comfortable.

Although it is out of the centre this didn't really pose any difficulties for us as the public transport is so efficient and taxis reasonable and there is a free, limited, one way shuttle service offered each morning. This hotel is great, our stay a delight, I would love to return - anytime.

Room Tip: Try for a room with sea view, but if I couldn't get it I wouldn't be put off.

This training facility is a great idea and certainly gives the students hands on experience.
The hotel isn't well known by taxi's and not well signposted, so be sure to take along the map each time you travel, especially if it's the first time arriving at the hotel. The welcome is warm and the young staff members are so eager to please. The room is comfortable and the views of the sea are spectacular.
The breakfast is adequate but dinner was very disappointing. The staff are not overseen by anyone experienced and this detracts from the service they can provide. They all mean well and want to excel but are simply not trained enough to improve. For example, it may have something to do with their culture and leaving chopsticks on the table for the next course, but we found it fascinating that when they came to clear the plates, they took off your dirty knife and fork and placed it on the (previously) clean tablecloth, even if it was smeared with egg! We had to ask them to please remove it and bring us clean cutlery. Two wines which we ordered were not in stock and the dinner menu limited and food unappertising.
Cocktails on the terrace with the view is really enjoyable and they are very reasonably priced by HK standards.
Other than the service in the dining room, the overall experience is good, great value for money and a lovely experience.

My girlfriend and I decided to stay in the hotel after reading hundreds of reviews for different hotels in Hong Kong. Our expectations were met, this hotel offers excellent hospitality service. Its very well located, just a few minutes to the city center and about 1 hour from the airport. You only need to take the A-10 City Bus from the airport and get off at Pok Fu Lam Village, Pok Fu Lam Road stop, the hotel is located across the bus stop.
The room are very comfortable, all the the furniture, tvs are new and high tech. We had a beautiful view from our room. Breakfast is very good as well and you have the option to have it outdoor with a fantastic view.
Keep in mind the hotel does not take reservation trough the website you need to send an email in order to do a reservation.
I definitely come back to this hotel and recommend it

It must be understood that the T Hotel is a 35 room training facility for young hospitality students. It's about 10 minutes from Hong Kong Central Station by taxi which costs about $10Au. While here, they offer a free shuttle service to the city at 3 times in the morning.
That said, we have real enjoyed our 3 nights here. The interaction between the students and the supervisors may seem a little amusing at times, when the students get something wrong. With five young men to greeting you at the door and five or six helping with reception it might seem a little over done but they are being trained and a little latitude and grace is appreciate instructors who are extremely charming, So play the game and help the students relax. The comfortable high tech, rooms are large, quiet and beautifully appointed with sweeping views of Hong Kong harbour. As the hotel is subsidised by the government, it's extremely good value, you won't be disappointed.
Breakfast in the restaurant is a great experience for all the reasons stated above but it lacks nothing in the food department and with notice they even provide gluten free bread catering for my wife's gluten intolerant diet.

We booked the T Hotel based on the trip advisor reviews and weren't disappointed at all. If anything for the money we expected a small room and basic breakfast, but this felt like a 5 star. The room (605) was massive and looked out to sea, with such a fab view, and the breakfast had everything you could need and was yummy. The room had a little dining area and a king size bed, plus a shower and a tub in the gorgeous bathroom. The staff were amazing and made you feel so special. We ate in the hotel for 2 nights and had drinks on the balcony with local friends for the third and found the lounge restaurant very well priced and the drinks good value. We were served all three nights by Alice, who was always smiley and so friendly. She was one of the best servers on our whole trip around Asia. This really is a little gem. My one piece of advice is if you have to be somewhere by a certain time, then leave yourself 15 mins to get a cab. The staff try really hard to get you one (the doorman even ran out and down the street to get us one), but as the hotel is on the side of the island, some mornings, you do have to wait. We had some booked tours that meant getting into Central for 9am, so we were downstairs at 8.20 and this was fine. Taxi takes about 15 mins to central or Macau Ferry. We would definitely stay again if back in Hong Kong. The staff may be training, but they are trying their best always, and if you just enjoy the experience you will find fun in it.
