That's what they say, highest bar in the world, highest hotel in Hong Kong, highest pool, and it's all true. Look, it's a Ritz-Carlton, but not in the generic, one taste fits all way, at least not the common areas. It has a great spot. The rooms are small and generic Ritz Carlton, but the rest makes it seem almost…unique, no that's not it..not a chain?..no, but not a Ritz Carlton. Of course they are unfailingly polite. But don't ask them for hotel reservations, since you will be sent to the most expensive places, some of which may be in a mall. Oh, and did we mention, you will be sitting atop the ICC, one of the newest, most generic malls ever? Sitting atop Kowloon station, too, so you can take the mod train to the airport for fun, since the taxi takes the same amount of time. If you are going to stay in Kowloon, and cost is not the issue, then this is the one. But don't be cynical. It's just that Hong Kong is a bit unimaginative. And you will have to embrace that, or be chasing your tail to find what's left of anything old. Look at the old photos. Then the logos atop the high rises. Have fun, but don't try to find anything authentic. It is leading the race to the bottom of all those cities which just want to sell more Chanel. And hey, at least it's better than Beijing.
