“Old World Charm”
Reviewed 25 April 2012

We visited Island Tang on a recommendation. The decor is traditional and the back room wall displays beautiful butter amber ornaments. We were delighted with the service and the food was devine. The Maitre d' was also very helpful in explaining dishes to us. We have had several lovely evenings at this restaurant.

“Yummy Food in Old Hong Kong Decor”
Reviewed 22 April 2012

Really delicious food for yum cha (Cantonese lunch). They do not have a large selection of dim sum compared to other local Cantonese restaurants. The selection of dumplings is especially limited, but for what they have it is amazing. It is probably worth going with a a few friends or family, so that you can order more food and try more.

Staff are friendly and helpful, and although restaurant is more up market, the environment is relaxed and enjoyable, as opposed to pretentious.

Booking is a must to avoid any dissappointment.

“Over Rated”
Reviewed 6 April 2012

The food was average for the price, I had the roast pork for entree it was good very tender, my partner had the dumplings she really enjoyed them I found them a bit too gelatinous and gooey. The mains where a soy vegetarian broth that was bland the other main was braised duck, the duck was average and was served with prawns, calamari and scallops which was a surprise however they were average also. Service was excellent and the décor was nice, to sum it up in total it was ok however for the price it’s defiantly not worthy of a recommendation or a second visit.

“I like it”

Familiar with Shanghai Tang? This place ( whose brother or little sister-- Kowloon Tang recently opened at the Elements mall in Kowloon) is a decent and well decorated Chinese restaurant somehow taking a leaf out of the famous Shanghai Tag store in terms of decoration. A good bet!
