“Very good hotel, awesome location”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

The Madera is a beautiful hotel in located in Jordan and close to Kowloon. The rooms are very nice and clean. Service was very good and helpful with questions and remarks. Their fitness studio is well equipped and you have an amazing view from their rooftop terrace, where they also do great cocktails.
You can choose from three sets of Breakfast, which will be nicely arranged but might not be enough for some.
You can reach Jordan MTR station, the waterfront, the temple street night market and the ladies market in around 15 minutes by walking.
Only minus is the 'free minibar' its only 2 bottles of water and 2 softdrinks, which will not be refilled during your stay.

Room Tip: We had a Grand Deluxe Room on 23rd Floor and the View was great, even though we did not see the famo...

This hotel is in Kowloon and the easiest way to reach from the airport is via bus. Take the A21 bus and once you get off it's about a block away. On the return to the airport the stop is located on the opposite side of the street (look out for the A21 sign) and you can pay in cash if you have the exact amount. We ended up topping our octopus cards for it.

I had booked a smaller room and upon check-in due to early arrival they offered a larger room higher up for a few hundred dollars more and we took it. The room was very spacious for 2 people with 2 suitcases with all the amenities. The fridge in the room offers sodas, juices and water along with noodle boxes, chips and candy all for free! We got a bottle of water for free everyday (I think it's because we didn't have them change our sheets during our stay). Beds were comfortable; the a/c in the room was either too cold or too hot and couldn't figure out the correct temp to set it at when sleeping; rooftop bar is very nice if only you could bring in your own food and eat it up there. Their cafe on the 3rd floor is nice, didn't eat there, but the ambiance was nice. They should have it open 24 hrs just for ppl to hang out and enjoy the outside if wanted. My only complaint on not giving it 5 stars was that the desk wasn't cleaned at all when we checked in and neither was the bathroom.

Front desk staff are not all the knowledgeable when it comes to timing, distance and cost of a cab. But I ended up taking a cab twice and it wasn't expensive - 30 HKD to out to the Olympic Mall area. Jordan MRT is nearby and you can even walk to TST.

Stayed there for 2 nights post business trip in China. The hotel is lovely and it's location is quite good.
Breakfast was a bit strange. Small breakfast room for quite a big hotel and the food selection wasn't what you expect at a four star hotel.
Bathroom is nice, beds were comfy.

My husband and I travelled with our 6 month old daughter to Hong Kong in December 2013. (Read : RAINY!)

The hotel was truly a gem and a refuge for us.

They kindly upgraded us (perhaps to fit in the cot?) but of course we did not mind. The cot was perfectly set up with bedding (which was turned down when our own bed was turned down).

The room size was very respectable and even large by HK standards. We could actually move around. There was a small sitting area with a sofa blocked off by the tv from our bed.

The bathroom was well appointed with bath and separate shower stall.

I loved the decor which was modern yet warm. It came with a small kitchenette area, which was really where the fridge and kettle were but it was roomy enough with counter space for me to prepare my daughter's cereal etc.

We had a great view from our room which was saying something considering its HK.

The in house cafe was very very nice for breakfast (a coffee and a bun, we did not try the more substantial food) which had great british inspired decor and ambience. IT is not open at night but considering it is HK and there is a famous and very popular (read crowded) HK restaurant directly opposite (10 steps away), this was not an issue at all.

There's also a quirky little museum behind the reception which we enjoyed a few photo ops.

As always, for me, the thing that makes or breaks a stay, are the staff. Here, there are no complaints. They were very friendly and patient in sharing their suggestions on food options (porridge? HK breakfast?), transport options (cab to the airport which they will call for you, or which train station to alight) and general warmth. The check in and check out processes were fuss free and very quick. The staff brought us up in the lift and helped us with our bags. We had warm greetings every time we came or left the hotel which was nice.

Location was very good , perhaps 2-3 min walk to Jordan MTR station.

Verdict - i would definitely want to come back to stay here the next time i am back in HK.

A tip for those with young children - do not bother with a pram as HK is not pram friendly at all. Since she was still relatively light weight, we simply put her in the carrier most of the time. This way , you need not fuss with the tight streets/sidewalks, lack of lifts, rain, curbs and most importantly death stares in the train if you have a pram.

Room Tip: Try to ask for a higher floor which would get a view.

I just came back from HK last week. I spent 2 lovely night at this hotel with nice sleep quality. New facility and designer style environment are so fascinating. The location is great that about 3 minutes walk to the closest subway station. Very close to Nathan Road which is one of the main street in Kowloon and also provides you a quick way to observe and enjoy the city life of HK. Don't forget to enjoy the mini lounge bar at the top floor during the night. The service is also great and king. in my opinion, the only weak point is the noise reduction facility, which may caused you to hear the voice from the hallway of the same floor while you are in the room. However, nothing much can be blamed for the hotel at this price. I will choose this hotel once again on my next trip to HK.

We stayed at the 21st floor during our two night stay in this hotel. The room was nice, though a tiny bit small. They have all the amenities expected from a four-star hotel. We liked the museum type area at their lobby area and the service was nice too. The front desk were all smiley during check-in and they accommodated us an hour later for checkout. Overall, it was a nice stay. Good value for money. MTR was just around the block so it wasn't very hard to locate.

Room Tip: Maybe choose a room at the higher floors for better view of HK

Madera is great. My wife and I arrived early (9am) and they let us check-in straight away and even upgraded us from a queen room to a king. We found the staff to be exceptionally friendly and helpful in recommending places to go and things to see. Our room was a great size (I'd been warned that HK hotel rooms are small but this one wasn't) and the cleanliness and overall feel of the hotel was great. We got breakfast included but it's nothing exciting. It was just for convenience. Overall I would highly recommend this hotel.
